University research in Haiti and cooperation - between constraints and opportunities
Entre contraintes et opportunités
Ce colloque sera organisé sur la question de gouvernance universitaire, particulièrement dans le domaine de la recherche, de l’usage des savoirs et des pratiques locales en matière de recherche. Ce colloque s'intéresse à la recherche universitaire dans une perspective panoramique incluant les sciences fondamentales comme les sciences appliquées tant dans les domaines des sciences humaines, des sciences sociales, la coopération et le travail en free-lance. L’accent sera aussi mis sur les contextes et enjeux locaux, sur des questions liées à la libre circulation des chercheurs, tout en étant attentif aux éclairages étrangers.

Information visualisation in Humanities
The previous edition of the visualization of information took place in 2015 and was related to computer science. In 2017 we focus on the use of visualization in the humanities, and in particular book- and information sciences, history, cultural studies and the arts. The purpose of this event is to increase awareness about the importance of scientific communication in graphical form among Polish humanists, and integration of academic community for experience exchange in the field of the art of visualization.

Entièrement consacrée à la médiation scientifique, cette journée aura pour but de rassembler, toutes universités et toutes disciplines confondues, des chercheur-e-s ayant pour souci de rendre accessible au plus grand nombre leurs travaux scientifiques. Cette rencontre sera aussi ouverte aux artistes dont les œuvres s’appuient sur des recherches scientifiques. Ainsi, chercheur-e-s et/ou artistes pourront présenter, devant des publics universitaires ou non, leurs expérimentations puis discuter avec ces publics de leurs recherches et/ou créations.

Both are endorsed by ADHO, EADH, and Humanistica. #dariahTeach is developing open-source, high quality, multilingual teaching materials for the digital arts and humanities.

L’open access, l’open data, le big data mais aussi les réseaux sociaux académiques font désormais partie intégrante d’un nouvel environnement de recherche.

Research as a research subject - reflexivity and critical distance
La recherche est par nature une activité critique : critique des avancées précédentes et surtout critique vis-à-vis de sa propre actualité, le chercheur adoptant pour cela une posture de distanciation relative à son travail et à ses méthodes et réflexive quant à ce qu’il produit et ses façons de travailler. C’est sur ce point spécifique (dimension critique et réflexive) que cet appel à articles pour un numéro thématique de NPSS – Nouvelles Perspectives en Sciences Sociales entend cibler la réflexion et les échanges.

What can researchers learn from their research?
La recherche d’objectivité conduit le plus souvent à inscrire le chercheur en dehors de sa recherche et à séparer l’objet d’étude de son contexte. Mais lorsque l’étude porte sur des phénomènes sociaux ou organisationnels, une telle absence de relation avec les participants, une telle coupure avec leur condition et leur situation présente, n’est-elle pas en un sens irresponsable ? Ne démontre-t-elle pas avant tout une absence de réflexivité ? Ne limite-t-elle pas les possibilités de comprendre et de découvrir des aspects inaccessibles depuis une distance, de même que les possibilités d’un réel engagement ? Une telle coupure ne limite-t-elle pas les possibilités d’un réel apprentissage, d’une transformation de ses présupposés et de sa pensée, d’une rencontre qui permet un apprentissage existentiel ? Comment faire alors pour qu’une recherche nous enseigne quelque chose, dans ce sens fort de l’apprentissage ? Et ne serait-ce pas la marque d’une recherche pertinente que le chercheur ait appris quelque chose et que son texte nous la transmette ? Et comment alors écrire pour que l’écriture ne répète pas une telle coupure ?

This event aims at favoring the meeting, the valorization and the exchange of the works of young researchers of any disciplines. In the lineage of the previous Day of the Young Researchers organized on May 28th, 2015 ("Identities and Contexts"), this event takes on an international scale, offering the PhD students and the doctors who have defended in the year, the possibility of sharing with each other their reflections on the theme "At the Frontiers of Disciplines. Research and Interdisciplinarité : Defining Practices and Challenges".

Un monde qui va plus vite ? Le point d’interrogation est de rigueur car, entre les propos convenus qui n’hésiteraient pas à répondre « oui » et ceux qui seraient tentés de dire « non », la marge est grande dans laquelle doivent s’insérer les géographes de concert avec les savants des sciences sociales et naturelles. En effet, si la géographie pense d’abord l’espace, le lieu, le territoire ou la région (au sens générique du terme), elle intègre aussi le temps compris comme succession de moments, d’événements et de durées. Le pays invité de ce XXVIIe Festival inetrnational de géographie sera la Belgique. Les propositions d'interventions sur ce pays sont également les bienvenues.

Musicology/Ethnomusicology: evolutions and problems

Since its origins as Vergleichende Musikwissenschaft, ethnomusicology struggles to define itself in relation to classical Occidental musicology, the latter being the semantic carrier of a more general character which is nevertheless restricted to the study of musics which in a first instance concerns only the Occident, and in a second instance, which is concerned with music labelled as ‘learned’, even integrating popular musics such as jazz, pop, rock and electro-acoustic musics – a rather large musicological study, all of this placed in a context of a growing as well as various unification specialisation proposals of general musicology sub-fields.

Philosophy and its History– a Contemporary Debate
2016 Symposium of the Swiss Philosophical Society (SPS)
Since the end of the 1980s, the relation of philosophy to its own history features prominently in the discussions concerning the nature and method of philosophy. What can philosophy do with its history? as Gianni Vattimo asked in 1989 in his book bearing the same title. Influenced by continental philosophers like Foucault or Collingwood, a so-called “relativist” position emerged from the works of Alain de Libera and Kurt Flasch, in opposition to a ‘continuist’ position (Claude Panaccio, Pascal Engel) having its source in great figures from the analytic tradition like Peter Strawson, Donald Davidson, or Michael Dummett. These debates stimulated and renewed the interest of the philosophical community for metaphilosophical and methodological questions. The 2016Symposium of the Swiss Philosophical Society will go further in this direction, bringing history back to the forefront of the philosophical scene.
