La revue en ligne Litter@ Incognita, pour son dixième numéro, invite les chercheur·se·s et jeunes chercheur·se·s de toute discipline à interroger la relations entre l’articulation texte/image et le désir féminin. Elle propose aux contributeur·rice·s de se pencher sur des productions culturelles, notamment intermédiales et transmédiales, qui déjouent les représentations textuelles, visuelles ou psychiques conventionnelles pour mieux interroger les modalités complexes de représentation du désir sexuel féminin, et d'étudier ce que l’articulation entre le texte (écrit ou oral) et l’image (visuelle ou mentale) permet aux femmes dans la représentation et l’expression de leurs désirs sexuels.

XVIe congrès de la Société internationale des médiévistes de Paris (IMS-Paris)

Pour la XVI^e édition de son colloque annuel, l’International Medieval Society Paris lance un appel à contribution sur tous les aspects du temps au Moyen Âge. Les propositions pourront traiter de l’expérience ou de l’exploitation du temps, de son calcul et de sa mesure, de son inscription, sa théorisation, ou de la question de savoir comment, pourquoi ou s’il faut délimiter le « Moyen Âge ». Les communications portant sur un matériel historique ou culturel de la France médiévale ou de la Gaule dans l’Antiquité tardive, ou sur des textes en Français ou en Occitan médiéval, sont particulièrement encouragés, mais les propositions convaincantes portant sur d’autres matières seront bien sûr aussi prises en compte.

A transmedial process

Conference metalepsis

Metalepsis has been increasingly present in several artistic fields, by enhancing a self-reflexive porosity between narrative levels and by provoking a very special kind of ontological sliding. When Gérard Genette (1972) transferred this figure from the field of rhetoric to that of narratology, in order to describe the subversion of boundaries between narrative levels, or the non-distinction between the diegetic and extradiegetic worlds, he associated the disquieting nature of the metalepsis with the following “unacceptable and insistent” hypothesis: we, as recipients of a work structured by this narratological figure, may find ourselves in the (Borgesian) odd circumstance of noticing that the extradiagetic could already be the diegetic.

8e Colloque international biennal de l’Association française de Linguistique cognitive (AFLiCo)

Nous encourageons la soumission de contributions sur le rôle que joue la cognition dans la créativité verbale dans des contextes divers (e.g. dans les conversations, dans la rhétorique, dans l’humour, dans la communication interculturelle, dans les arts, etc.). Seront également bienvenus les études sur la créativité dans des gestes, dans la multimodalité, et des études sur le sujet par des approches diverses (e.g. linguistique de corpus, sociolinguistique, psycholinguistique, etc.). Les organisateurs encouragent la soumission de propositions de communication par de jeunes chercheurs. Les communications peuvent se faire en anglais ou en français, et seront de 20 minutes maximum, suivi de 8 minutes de questions.

The British, American and French Photobook: Commitment, Memory, Materiality and the Art Market (1900-2019)

The Maison Française conference committee invites proposals on the social history of the British, American or French photobook from 1900 to the present. Papers will address: commitment or explicit political engagement; memory, commemoration and the writing of history; materiality (whether real or virtual), and how material form affects circulation, handling, critical responses and the social life of the photobook. We invite contributors to analyse these topics with respect to the growth of the market for the photobook as a commodity and an object of bibliophilic attention. Proposals focusing on contemporary productions are particularly welcome.

Australian and New Zealand Association for Medieval and Early Modern Studies Conference (ANZAMEMS 2019)

Categories and boundaries help us to define our fields of knowledge and subjects of inquiry, but can also contain and limit our perspectives. The concept of category emerges etymologically from the experience of speaking in an assembly, a dialogic forum in which new ways of explaining can emerge. Boundaries and horizons are intertwined in their meanings, pointing to the limits of subjectivity, and inviting investigation beyond current understanding into new ways of connecting experience and knowledge.

D.H. Lawrence and the Anticipation of the Ecocritical Turn

D.H. Lawrence has often been viewed as a post-romantic nature writer. Instead of looking back to the 19th century writers who influenced him, we propose in the 2019 Conference to consider how his literary practice and the philosophy that underlies it herald the ecocritical turn of the late 20th century. Broadly speaking, ecocriticism focuses on the study of the relationship between man and the natural environment, doing so from an interdisciplinary perspective. It is concerned both with the protection of the environment and with the destiny of man, or of "the human", in the geological era called the Anthropocene. Ecocriticism is a broad term, pointing to innumerable trends: ecopoetry, ecophilosophy (see Guattari's ecsophy), ecoethics, ecoethology, ecopolitics, ecofeminism, etc.

Les échanges humanistes dans les provinces du Nord pendant la Renaissance

Premier colloque international de Saint-Omer

Le colloque international de Saint-Omer est organisé conjointement par le Centre de Recherche et d’Études Histoire et Sociétés (EA 4027 CREHS - université d’Artois), et la Communauté d’Agglomération du Pays de Saint-Omer (CAPSO) représentée par sa Bibliothèque et son Université Populaire. Ce colloque s’inscrit dans le cadre du programme de recherche pluridisciplinaire : La Renaissance dans les Provinces du Nord, coordonné depuis 2015 par Charles GiryDeloison et Laurence Baudoux, et dans la continuité des journées d’études annuelles organisées au sein de ce programme à l’université d’Artois. En ce sens, le propos de cette rencontre est d’interroger les diverses manifestations de la Renaissance dans les Anciens Pays Bas aux XVIème et XVIIème siècles, touchant les principaux champs des humanités (philosophie, lettres et arts), et en se concentrant plus particulièrement sur les échanges, rencontres et associations entre les différents acteurs de cette renaissance culturelle.

Ordonner l’Église (II)

Communautés cléricales et communautés monastiques dans le monde carolingien (VIIIe-Xe siècle)

Ce colloque entend appréhender les évolutions des communautés cléricales et monastiques d’époque carolingienne afin d’interroger les effets concrets de la réforme de 816-819 et la notion même d’institutionnalisation de l’Église, dont on fait souvent un des traits caractéristiques de la période. Il s’agira d’observer de quelle manière étaient organisées ces institutions, entre le VIII^e et la fin du X^e siècle, sans préjuger d’une rupture en un temps donné, afin de mieux mesurer ce qui caractérisait les différents types de communautés (monastiques et canoniques / canoniales) et à quel point l'effort réformateur mené à l’initiative de la cour constitue ou non une inflexion majeure dans l’histoire de l’organisation de l’Église et des communautés ecclésiastiques.

(Re) thinking translations

Methodologies, objectives, perspectives

In the last four decades, scholars have begun to go beyond the traditional perspective of linguistic and literary studies, and to consider the translations as cultural practices and the result of various processes of cultural and intellectual “negotiation” between two different contexts. In recent years also historians have progressively started to take a close interest in translations as sources to investigate the ways in which knowledge and ideas were constructed, disseminated, re-elaborated and assimilated in new cultural, social and political contexts. The aims of this international conference is to encourage an interdisciplinary dialogue on these problems, bringing together scholars, graduate students and early career researchers from Translation Studies, History, History of Book, History of Science, Literary Studies and related disciplines who are interested in discussing methodologies, objectives and perspectives in the study of translations.

Der V. Internationale Kongress der Mythokritik „Mythos und audiovisuelle Gestaltung” ist eine Initiative des Forschungsprogramms Acis&Galatea, finanziert von der Autonomen Gemeinschaft Madrid und dem Europäischen Sozialfonds der EU. Der Kongress findet an vier Standorten mit den folgenden Themenschwerpunkten statt: „Germanische Mythen“ an der Universität Alcalá, „Klassische Mythen“ an der Universidad Autónoma, „Biblische Mythen“ an der Universidad Francisco de Vitoria und „Moderne Mythen“ an der Universidad Complutense. Beitragsvorschläge von interessierten Wissenschaftlernkönnen an einen der vier Standorte gesendet werden. Hierbei soll die Rolle des Kinos, der Fernsehserien und der Videospiele bei der Gestaltung und Adaption der antiken, mittelalterlichen und modernen Mythen in der heutigen Welt untersucht werden.

Intercultural exchange in the age of globalization, second edition

In the context of today’s social, political and economic changes, power is one of the governing principles of culture. Power comes in many shapes and sizes and it manifests itself under various forms: it can be tyrannical or a combination of forces (Foucault); it can be charismatic, traditional and rational (Weber) or the opposite – manipulative; it can also appear as a system of diluted forces that spring from the “social field” (Bourdieu); it can remain in the unconscious or it can manifest itself in the speech act. However it may appear, it has become clear that power shapes the course of the creation, interpretation and analysis of literary texts and other cultural products.
