À l'occasion de son vingtième anniversaire, le Collectif des centres de documentation en histoire ouvrière et sociale (CODHOS), dont les membres vivent et accompagnent au quotidien ces bouleversements, organise deux journées d’études pluridisciplinaires autour des sources de l’histoire sociale. Elles seront l’occasion de poursuivre les missions qu'il s'est fixées lors de sa création : organiser et favoriser les rencontres et les échanges entre chercheur·e·s en sciences sociales et archivistes, bibliothécaires, documentalistes et autres professionnel·le·s de la conservation, sur cette relation entre l’événement social et historique, l’archive produite et l’utilisation qui en est faite.

Actors, practices and representations of security: 19th-21st centuries
XIXe-XXIe siècle
Dans la continuité des travaux engagés depuis 2000, ce séminaire approfondit l'étude de la gendarmerie et il élargit l'enquête à l'histoire de tous les organismes, civils ou militaires, publics (justice, polices nationale et municipales, douanes, services de pompiers, etc.) ou privés, qui participent, d'une manière ou d'une autre aux missions de sécurité. Attentif aux institutions mais surtout aux acteurs et actrices, le chantier entend accorder une large place à l'observation des protagonistes et à leurs pratiques concrètes. Ce séminaire veut enfin contribuer à la compréhension de l'insécurité par l'étude des faits criminels et de leur traitement politique, médiatique et judiciaire, mais aussi par l'exploration des peurs et des passions collective, abordées dans leur épaisseur historique, en tenant compte de leurs diversités sociales et territoriales.

Pontmain, the Marian apparition on January 17, 1871: texts, contexts, interpretations
After being defeated by Prussian troops at the Battle of Le Mans, elements of the French Army retreat to the east of the department of Mayenne on January 13, 1871. Scuffles ensue in many spots, to the gate outside Laval. The advance of Prussian troops on the territory, while Paris has been under siege for four months, preoccupies the inhabitants of Mayenne.On January 17, the Virgin Mary appears to children of Pontmain, and only to them. The villagers pray and move from anguish to joy and hope.January 2021 marks the 150th anniversary of these military events and this apparition.

History, politics and culture in Eastern-Central Europe
Protest and mobilisations in Eastern-Central Europe: actors, registers, methods (from the 19th century to the present day)
Ce séminaire collectif s’inscrit dans une perspective multidisciplinaire (histoire, histoire culturelle, sciences politiques, géographie, sociologie) sur un thème transrégional choisi pour l’année. Sans prérequis de langue, il est ouvert à tous. Les grandes causes sociétales comme la protection de l’environnement, l’égalité des genres ou la lutte contre la corruption, souvent articulées à des contestations du pouvoir politique, ont été investies avec intensité dans les pays de l’Europe médiane au cours des dernières années. Ces mouvements actuels invitent à interroger les formes des contestations et des mobilisations que cet espace a connues depuis le XIXe siècle, dans une perspective renouvelée. En effet, la circulation des acteurs, des registres et des modalités d’engagement conduit à analyser les transformations du politique et la dimension transnationale des mobilisations.

Memory and history in Latin America, Spain and Portugal
From the contemporary to the present day
La tension entre mémoires(s) et histoire(s), que certains d’entre nous ont abordée aussi bien dans leurs travaux qu’au cours de précédents séminaires, ne peut être dissociée des usages publics et politiques du passé. La mémoire, marqueur des sociétés démocratiques, est devenue un terme fourre-tout. Reconsidérant les principaux concepts à l’œuvre à l’endroit du contemporain ainsi qu’un temps présent hanté par un passé tragique, épistémologiquement dépendant d’un témoignage érigé en exigence morale et sociale, ce séminaire à plusieurs voix continuera de s’intéresser à l’écriture de ce passé proche. Nous aborderons les modalités de son instrumentalisation, de la reconfiguration des mythes fondateurs, ainsi que les « politiques publiques de l’histoire » qui mobilisent des acteurs et des médiations autres que l’historien professionnel.

1956-1958: A revolutionary period that changed Africa (and the world)
The objective of this panel is to compare the various social mobilizations that took place in Africa during the years 1956-1958 and which arguably constitute a historical watershed. The main aim of the panel is not the making of an abstract comparative analysis, but the analysis, based on the testimonial material collected, of how the memory of these events has been structured over time. Moreover, we are interested in understanding what the impacts of these social movements were on the structuring of states and what continuities can be found between the mobilizations of that period and the ary social mobilizations that have shaken the continent in the last ten years, from the ‘Arab Spring’ of 2011 onwards.

Figures and Perspectives on the Mass and the Individual in Capitalist Modernity (19th-21st century)
How is it possible to use the notion of mass without making it collapse into a complete condemnation of collective action or into an acritical celebration of the crowd? From there on, the relationship between mass and individual can be addressed in many fashions: Are there any specific ways for the mass to organize itself as a political subject? What are means whereby artworks represent and transform the linkage between mass and individual? What are the mutations undergone by the mass qua object of the social sciences? How does capitalist modernity affect the moral and psychic autonomy of individuals?

How are norms challenged by disabilities?
This 9th conference aims to discuss the construction of normality and, more broadly, the system of thought that structures our societies in which being “able” is the norm in the sense of both the most widespread and the most desirable situation. The aim of this critical perspective is therefore to highlight how our societies are structured in relation to the notion of the able individual. While the recent call to build inclusive societies would appear to herald a radical turning point, what is the reality? Have we truly finished with representations of disability that tend towards the negative, the defective or even the tragic? To what extend are the “heroized” figures of disability, omnipresent in the public space, perpetrating the representation of disability as a deviation from the norm?

Images du travail, travail des images (ITTI) journal special issue
Tout au long de son histoire, ancienne ou récente, le syndicalisme, qu'il soit salarié, agricole, étudiant ou patronal, catégoriel ou interprofessionnel, local, national ou international... a généré, conçu mais aussi diffusé des images du travail en nombre croissant. Ces images sont si nombreuses et diversifiées, qu'il apparaît difficile de les quantifier et recenser. Au gré de l'évolution des techniques, des pratiques et des moyens, les supports n'ont en effet pas cessé de se diversifier : dessins, affiches, drapeaux, sculptures, peintures, photographies, films, reportages, documents numériques... Et pourtant, malgré une production des plus abondantes, l'étude des images du travail produites au sein du mouvement syndical n'a fait que très peu l'objet de travaux et analyses. C'est donc dans le sillage des travaux initiés depuis 2015 par la revue Images du travail, travail des images, que ce dossier souhaite apporter un éclairage nouveau.

The Association belge de science politique (ABSP) and the Associations francophones de science politique (CoSPoF) congress 2021
Des soutiens-gorges jetés par les féministes américaines dans les « poubelles de la liberté » à la nudité des Femen, du polo Fred Perry des suprémacistes américains aux tee-shirts no logo des altermondialistes, du béret du Che au keffieh d’Arafat, le vêtement, et parfois son absence, nourrit le spectre des résistances, alimente la scénographie des contestations, leur confère une visibilité quitte à jouer, comme les Black Blocs, sur l’anonymat protecteur. Ce projet comprendra trois axes : le rôle du vêtement dans la construction des antagonismes, sa place dans les processus de mobilisation et son étude en tant que vecteur de circulation interculturelle des modalités de la résistance.

Des recherches, renouant avec les notions de coopération, voire d’altruisme, renouvellent la question des rapports des humains avec la nature et les autres vivants. S’appuyant sur ces études, dans le contexte d'inquiétudes écologiques croissantes, divers courants critiques, alternatifs ou militants entendent développer des perspectives opposées à celles de la loi de la jungle et de la consommation destructrice. Cet appel à contribution porte sur ces expériences et modes de vie conformes à de nouvelles philosophies des rapports avec la nature et ses vivants, tant en France qu’à l’étranger. On attend des enquêtes sociologiques ou ethnographiques, animées par un regard anthropologique et/ou historique.

LGBTI and Queer Art, Culture and Activism
In France, a few years after the law authorizing same-sex marriage, LGBTQ associations are now facing new struggles, fighting for access to assisted procreation or the creation of a communal archive center. Drawing on these dynamics, this conference aims at interrogating the bonds between LGBTQ forms of arts, cultures and activisms. We look forward to opening a space for academics and grassroots activists, whether they be engaged in institutional collectives or not, to exchange, reflect and dialogue. LGBTQ-related topics appear to be often overlooked in French research networks. We aim to make it more visible and richer, and make it dialogue with local, national and international networks of academics and activists. The « LGBTI and Queer Art, Culture and Activism » online conference is jointly organised by the Université de Lorraine and its research centres (2L2S and CREM), with the support of the French ministry of culture (DRAC Grand-Est), and the LGBTIQ centre Couleurs Gaies.

Urgent issue of The Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge
This special issue, Tilting, seeks to take up themes that have animated the Blackwood’s program and mandate throughout the last several years: questions of connectivity, the challenges of public and private space, community and/in isolation; imperatives to re-structure modes and methodologies of care, including revaluing care work, confronting collective care responsibilities within colonial and capitalist structures, and engaging with the infrastructures, aesthetics, contestations, and radical possibilities of mutual aid; responses to the precarization of art, labour, and life; interest in what modes of knowledge production, circulation, and re-distribution are vital to us now, and how these networks might take new form. These urgencies continue to drive Blackwood programming (and this forthcoming publication), supporting and activating artists, curators, and writers who incite us to be responsive, critical, and answerable.

43rd Annual International Committee for Museology (ICOFOM) Symposium
ICOFOM is proposing a symposium around two themes inspired by the process of renewing the definition of the museum and the major trends that contribute to transforming museums (Mairesse, 2015; 2016). These two central themes raise many questions about the primary mission of the museum. Decolonization is at the heart of the fundamental questioning of the social function of the museum. Consequently, these are the discourses, or even the myths of origin of the nations, that are contested.

Transnational Biographies. Destinies at the Crossroads throughout the 20th Century
This call for papers seeks methodological and case-study perspectives on 20th century biographies, interpreted within a framework of cross-national/transnational connections, surpassing the nation-centered apprehension of history. The contributions should acknowledge and interpret destinies and existences as subjected to transnational spaces and structures, while considering actors as non-state (or multi-state) entities. Moreover, we seek contributions that surpass the “center-periphery” paradigm, focusing on a “horizontal” approach, while also reversing the spotlight from diplomatic and political history towards the social and cultural dimension of it. Editors welcome contributions from different fields of research: history, political science, cultural studies, philosophy, sociology, gender studies or any other related areas of interest.

Sociology in the face of industrial and environmental risks
Depuis le 26 septembre 2019, la ville de Rouen est touchée par les conséquences de l’incendie de l’usine de produits chimiques Lubrizol et l’entreprise Normandie Logistique. Les membres du DySoLab, le laboratoire des dynamiques sociales de l’université de Rouen, ont décidé d’engager un programme collectif de réflexion visant à analyser les effets sociaux et politiques d’un tel événement. Dans ce cadre, le séminaire général du laboratoire de l’année 2020 sera entièrement consacré à la question des risques sanitaires et environnementaux, appréhendés sous des angles variés. Ce séminaire a pour ambition de mener une réflexion à la fois théorique et méthodologique et d’ouvrir des pistes pour les recherches actuelles et futures sur l’après Lubrizol.

La thématique est comprise au sens large, et questionne à la fois les relations entre l'évolution des corps et les identités individuelles, ou les performances, qu'elles soient artistiques, sportives, etc. Une approche davantage géographique et sociale permet d'envisager le sujet sous l'angle des déplacements et migrations ou des mouvements sociaux.
