  Bénédictins gothiques, bénédictins modernes

  Architecture et décor monumental des monastères bénédictins de la fin du Moyen Âge au début de l'époque moderne en Europe, XIIIe-XVIIe siècles

  Le CERCOR (CNRS, UMR 8584) et le Centre André Chastel (UMR 8150) s'associent pour organiser une journée d'études consacrée à la production artistique monumentale des monastères bénédictins de la fin du Moyen Âge au début de l'époque moderne (XIIIe-XVIIe siècles). Durant cette période qui a jusqu'à présent peu retenu l'intérêt des chercheurs de nombreux chantiers furent pourtant lancés dans les monastères bénédictins tant en France qu'en Europe. Ce sont ces chantiers qui feront l'objet des communications de la journée.

  Pilgrimage Architecture and Pictorial Concepts in a New Perspective

  This conference is related to our ongoing research project "The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela – Form, Function, Program". Initial results revealed the existence of a Romanesque west-building, including a first west portal, which was entirely rebuiltunder Master Mateo between 1168 and 1188 and replaced by the well-known Pórtico de la Gloria. These and other new findings will be presented at the conference, wherethey will be brought into conversation with current research from the US, Spain, Switzerland, Germany and France on pilgrimage architecture and sculpture.
