Contrat post-doctoral « Méditerranée en mutation : matérialités, circulations, environnement »

Dans le cadre d’un partenariat entre le Musée des civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée à Marseille (MuCEM) et le laboratoire d’excellence sur les études méditerranéennes, coordonné par la Maison méditerranéenne des sciences de l’homme (LabexMed), il est proposé le recrutement à compter du 1^erjanvier 2015 d’un chercheur post-doctorant pour un contrat d’une durée de 12 mois, renouvelable une fois. Le sujet de recherche proposé s’intitule « Méditerranée en mutation: matérialités, circulations, environnement ». Le post-doctorant sera amené à animer un groupe de travail ad hoc, à réaliser des enquêtes dans le bassin méditerranéen et à présenter un rapport au terme de sa mission.

Le programme de recherches EHNE, Écrire une histoire nouvelle de l'Europe, porté par Éric Bussière est l'un des 15 projets SHS retenus dans le cadre de la seconde vague nationale de sélection des Laboratoires d'excellences (LabEx). En réunissant un véritable capital de compétences pour une durée de 8 ans, EHNE constitue un laboratoire d’excellence dont le but sera d'éclairer la crise que connaît actuellement l'Europe en s'adressant tout autant au monde scientifique qu'au monde enseignant, aux citoyens qu'aux politiques. À cette crise complexe aux dimensions multiples se trouve associé le constat de la difficulté de l'historiographie actuelle à saisir l'objet Europe dans sa globalité et à intégrer l'histoire du projet européen à celle de l'Europe dans son ensemble. Dans le cadre LabEx EHNE, le CRHIA recrute un(e) doctorant(e) qui travaillera sur un sujet en lien avec l’axe 4 du projet : « L’Europe, les Européens et le monde ».

Il s’agira de participer à un projet de recherche du laboratoire portant sur la construction d’instruments de mesure robustes des espaces urbains. Le groupe transversal JEDI (Justice, Espace, Discriminations, Inégalités) du Labex Futurs Urbains réunit des chercheurs appartenant aux différents laboratoires du périmètre du LABEX et souhaitant approfondir la réflexion autour des catégories et cadres conceptuels mobilisés autour des inégalités, vulnérabilités, formes de discrimination, domination, stigmatisation ou d'injustice rencontrées par différentes catégories de population urbaine. Le travail entrepris en commun cherche à produire des avancées théoriques sur le lien entre les inégalités ou discriminations d’une part, et les espaces ou les territoires d’autre part, en mobilisant des notions comme celles de justice spatiale ou environnementale, de gentrification, d’accessibilité, en interrogeant les formes de mobilité ou les mobilisations d’habitants.

Late Antiquity in the north-western half of the Arabian peninsula: material culture, chronology, exchanges and territorial entities

The very quick recent development of archaeological and epigraphic work in Saudi Arabia brought deep changes in our knowledge of the Arabian Peninsula — which until the middle of the 2000's was only based on research on the periphery: Kuwait, Bahrayn, Qatar, The Emirates, Oman, and Yemen. That development reveals how wide the gaps are, of the interpretative frame in particular, for broad geo-historical segments. That is true especially for what is generally called Late Antiquity (4th- early 7th centuries AD), and here "Late Pre-Islamic" or even in local religious terms jâhîliyah, "ignorance" — a term which actually reflects correctly the state of knowledge. The amount of data collected within less than ten years within a large North-Western half of the Peninsula makes possible to see that except for the extreme North (current Joradanian border and Jawf Oasis) the Christianity does not penetrate and Byzantiums unifying power is absent. One is even unable to name what the field teams are dealing with. The proposed doctoral work must produce the state of that question, for which there if a rich evidence in stratigraphy, architecture, objects, and even epigraphy due to the recent demonstration of the Nabataean-Arabic continuum. The comparison with the Byzantine and christianized areas of the extreme North must be one of the leading strands but no way the only one, since the heart of the subject lyes, on the contrary, in the currently unnamed culture(s) of the Peninsula itself.

In partnership with Électricité de France (EDF), Paris Institute for Advanced Studies (Paris IAS) is recruiting two high-level international researchers in the humanities and social sciences (or related fields) for a period of nine months, to take part in a research programme on the energy transition of European societies, with particular emphasis on Germany and the UK, from a city to a regional level.
