Politics and Narratives of the Body

The International Colloquium Politics and Narratives of the Body aims to open an interdisciplinary dialogue, considering the multiple ways of thinking, representing, embodying and writing corporeality, particularly in contemporary contexts. The policies created around the body generate diverse, dissenting, irreverent and complex narratives, discourses and poetics. In this way, the congress is expected to convene studies on the body and the policies and narratives built around it, from perspectives that include an interdisciplinary approach. Thus, different disciplines of the human, social and artistic sciences would converge in order to transversally think about corporeality.

Antiracisms and the Social Sciences, 2025-2066

This seminar examines the history and sociology of antiracism—or antiracisms—in the Atlantic region since the end of the 18th century. We will be looking at how what we now call “racism” has been thought about and combated over the long term. Few studies are explicitly devoted to antiracism. We will, therefore, propose a genealogy of antiracist strategies. This seminar is committed to articulating a transdisciplinary and transnational perspective on the dynamics of anti-racist thought and practice.

Education and pedagogy in Bayle's work

    Online Bayle Seminar 2026

In a now-celebrated text, Denis Richet analyzed how the monarchy shaped itself. In its second year, this webinar invites participants to build on his analysis by shifting the focus to the institutional, individual, and collective actors who, in their daily exercise of sovereignty, worked to shape their own offices, challenge the orders they received, and invent an ancient origin for their practices. These practices were often recently established as a result of political manoeuvres, disgrace, or dynastic change.

The New History of the Age of Gunpowder in Asia

The aim of this issue of Bellica is to bring together articles exploring the new history of the “age of gunpowder” in Asia from the 10th century to the present. By studying the origins, evolution, uses, and consequences of firearms in Asia over the last millennium, this collection of articles aims to highlight the recent opening-up of military history to the non-Western world, without denying the West’s importance.

An ecological transition under strain: country, landscape, and uses in contemporary Germany

The starting point for this conference is the observation that the ecological transition in Germany, which one might have thought would be easier or at least more harmonious than in other countries due to the importance that environmental issues have had in German culture, society, and politics from very early on, is in fact encountering numerous obstacles and is even being called into question. This is evidenced, among other things, by the setbacks which the energy transition encounters and by the success of the party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) despite—or perhaps because of—its stance in favour of climate change denial.

China has become Africa’s leading trading partner, with an increasing presence in economic, cultural, and educational sectors, sparking debates and international rivalries. However, African research on Sino-African relations remains underdeveloped, lacking real synergy and institutional support. The 2024 FOCAC emphasized the need for a coherent African strategy and knowledge ownership to ensure a balanced engagement with China. The study aims to analyze the challenges of developing and promoting Sino-African studies, identify obstacles and opportunities, and propose forward-looking strategies. It targets researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders involved in Sino-African cooperation. Articles (6,000 to 8,000 words) are expected by October 20, 2025, through the official website and will undergo a double-blind peer review process.

    Intercultural Transfers

    Academic freedom in question

Is the expression of diverse perspectives for the development of knowledge still possible in academia?
