Arts and Literature in Latin America in the 21st Century: A Crossroads?

Following the colloquium held in Rennes, France, on October 9 and 10, to celebrate the magazine's fifteenth anniversary and as we approach the end of the first quarter of the 21st century, we would like to explore how contemporary Latin American imaginaries (primarily through literary and artistic production) contextualize not only belonging to specific territories but also the place these territories occupy in an increasingly globalized cultural universe.

Coordination of a thematic dossier - “RITA (Interdisciplinary Journal of Papers on the Americas)”
RITA (Revue Interdisciplinaire de Travaux sur les Amériques - Interdisciplinary Journal of Papers on the Americas) is a scientific journal whose aim is to annually publish original articles contributing to the analysis of the dynamics of the Americas in the historical, geographical, political, economic, social, literary and artistic fields. Multidisciplinarity is a major feature of the magazine: crossing disciplinary perspectives on specific themes in order to reciprocally enrich the authors’ reflections. Each thematic dossier includes scientific articles, but can also include field notes, reviews, interviews and opinion or literary texts.

Religions, Individuals, and Communities in the Americas

As recurring objects of analysis running the whole gamut of humanities and social sciences, the ties between religions, communities, and the individuals within them have constantly been used to gauge tensions within social structures. All the more so on the American continent, where the destructive spiral of colonization set off waves of migration, and the pluralism within the communities and religions from the Northwest Territories to Tierra del Fuego delineates both their differences and similarities. Is there such a thing as specifically American structures when it comes to religions and communities? That is one of the questions posed by the present 18th issue of RITA.

Ce numéro de la revue Atlante se propose de problématiser les applications actuelles de la notion de fin de vie aux systèmes linguistiques, et d’en interroger les enjeux – selon les cas – théoriques et épistémologiques, ou politiques et sociaux.

Cuando decidimos abordar el estudio de la “literatura africana”, nos enfrentamos a una serie de problemas, en tanto campo complejo de tensiones, de núcleos constitutivos, de perspectivas, inherentes a toda etiqueta formada por la palabra literatura y un gentilicio. Una dificultad no menor la encontramos en los planes de estudios de las carreras de Letras en Argentina cuyo “patrón cognitivo” (Quijano 2017) aún persiste dentro de los rasgos de un patrón de poder fundado en la colonialidad: el centro no ha sido del todo desplazado, para decirlo con wa Thiong’o (2014). El eurocentrismo académico en nuestro país perdura en el escaso interés que el pensamiento africano y afrodiaspórico ocupa en las carreras de Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales, con destacadas excepciones siempre individuales o colectivas pero rara vez institucionale.

Écritures de la fluidité dans la littérature latino-américaine contemporaine
Nous aborderons dans ce numéro de Crisol le concept de fluidité dans les littératures latino-américaines récentes écrites en espagnol, en portugais et en langues autochtones. Les termes renvoyant à la fluidité seront entendus dans leur matérialité, renvoyant aux études éco-critiques mais aussi aussi au corps humain. On s’interrogera également sur les implications stylistiques d’une telle notion, pour interroger ce qu’est (ou n'est pas) une écriture fluide, une lecture fluide. Enfin, la notion de fluidité sera interrogée dans ses liens avec la post-modernité, en particulier en ce qui concerne l’approche du genre.

In this volume, we would like to analyze in depth the paths taken by the 20th and 21st century Latin American and Caribbean letters in relation to the experience of the black diaspora in dialogue with the visual arts, as well as in relation to the main themes, forms and techniques used by artist, playwrights, poets, storytellers and writers. In a context of increasing violence and intolerance towards minorities in Latin America, we will welcome analyses that focus on the relationship between literature and the resistance of the cultures created by the black diaspora.

International Association on Work in Agriculture’s Webinars
The International Association on Work in Agriculture (IAWA) proposes a webinar to share with you the knowledge and current research on the place of work and employment in value chains’ and food systems’ transformations. The idea is to move forward discussions on the theme, having following key question: how do strategies and mechanisms for value chain and food systems transformations address different work and employment issues? Starting with an overview of the thematic, from scientometric and conceptual points of view, the webinar will bring together experts to present their experience on the subject, from the North and the South, and different contexts and chain designs.

João Ubaldo Ribeiro, a ficção e a história
III Congresso Internacional de Literatura Brasileira
João Ubaldo Ribeiro nasceu na Bahia, em 23 de janeiro de 1941. Depois de viver em Portugal, Alemanha e Estados Unidos, na década de 1990 se mudou para o Rio de Janeiro. Tudo isso permitiu que o escritor ampliasse o horizonte do seu olhar. Comprometida política e socialmente com os desfavorecidos, a literatura de João Ubaldo traça a história do Brasil e acrisola as distintas culturas que configuraram a idiossincrasia desse grande país, a portuguesa e a africana, passando por numerosas manifestações nativas. Por isso, a sua obra possui uma pluralidade complexa de sotaques e uma notável variedade de tipos, unida a um profundo olhar histórico, e inegável compromisso com a ficção, da qual se serve na crítica, na ironia e no sentido de humor. Amante e defensor da língua portuguesa, da qual se considerava um servidor, João Ubaldo Ribeiro fez o idioma brilhar em seus trabalhos, que lhe proporcionaram grandes prêmios e um amplo número de leitores. O Colibra convida a todos os especialistas e leitores da obra de João Ubaldo Ribeiro, assim como da Literatura brasileira em geral, a participarem desta nova edição (como nas edições anteriores, também serão admitidos trabalhos que versem sobre literatura brasileira em general).

A Amazônia brasileira: problemas e desafios
La Amazonia internacional engloba nueve países de América del Sur: Bolivia, Brasil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guayana, Guayana Francesa, Perú, Surinam y Venezuela, con un territorio de aproximadamente siete millones de kilómetros cuadrados. Según los datos del Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), la Amazonia brasileña comprende unos cinco millones de kilómetros cuadrados, lo que corresponde a cerca de la mitad del país. Con ese fin, el Centro de Estudios Brasileños organiza el II Congreso Internacional de Ciencias Sociales y Humanas, dedicado en esta ocasión a “La Amazonia brasileña: problemas y desafíos”, abriendo así un espacio de debate multidisciplinar con el fin de aportar luz sobre un tema complejo y de difícil solución.
