  1956-1958 : une époque de révolutions qui changèrent l’Afrique (et le monde)

  The objective of this panel is to compare the various social mobilizations that took place in Africa during the years 1956-1958 and which arguably constitute a historical watershed. The main aim of the panel is not the making of an abstract comparative analysis, but the analysis, based on the testimonial material collected, of how the memory of these events has been structured over time. Moreover, we are interested in understanding what the impacts of these social movements were on the structuring of states and what continuities can be found between the mobilizations of that period and the ary social mobilizations that have shaken the continent in the last ten years, from the ‘Arab Spring’ of 2011 onwards.

  The Great War seen from the “Periphery”: East Asia and Ibero-America

  The International Workshop “The Great War seen from the ‘Periphery’: East Asia and Ibero-America” intends to encourage a comparative discussion on the impact of the war in East Asia and Ibero-America, and also about possible entanglements as well as communalities regarding a shift in perception of the ‘European Great Powers’ and a world order centered very much on them before 1914. It will gather researchers specialized in Japan, China and Ibero-america, who will focus on the ‘mediatization’ of the war in those regions.

  Grupos intermédios nos domínios portugueses, sécs. XVI-XVIII

  Revista de História (Universidade de São Paulo)

  A Revista de História da Universidade de São Paulo convida autores para apresentação de artigos destinados a um dossiê sobre grupos intermédios nos séculos XVI a XVIII. Durante esses séculos os grupos intermédios esforçaram-se por afirmar-se no universo rural e ajudaram a dar consistência aos núcleos urbanos do mundo português, correspondendo a uma acrescida demanda por serviços especializados e assegurando o alargamento das funções de representação da Coroa e das atividades da Igreja. Muito embora quase inexistentes em termos jurídicos ou normativos, esses grupos eram, de fato, reconhecidos como uma espessa e vibrante camada "mediana", assinalada em testemunhos nacionais e estrangeiros. Procura-se agora melhor distinguir as suas especificidades, seus mecanismos de constituição e o seu efetivo protagonismo na dinâmica social.

  Rethinking the Political and the History of Politics in Chile: Languages, Discourses and Practices of Power

  The objective of this colloquium will be to debate and analyze politics and the political by means of the different forms of language, discourse and practices that intervene in the construction of the social world. There are myriad examples of this in Chilean history. Taking history, political philosophy and political economy as the starting points, we invite doctoral candidates, researchers and academics to participate in this truly trans disciplinary  space of debate, reflection and feedback whose goal is not only to unite a community of researchers into “the political” in the republican period but also to select the best works presented for a future publication in the format of a collective work or a special dossier of a scientific publication.

  Current Trends, Challenges and Crises

  Fala-se cotidianamente de crise do ensino jurídico, a reboque da permanente crise das próprias instituições do Sistema de Justiça. Essa crise da educação também não é de hoje: Em “A Educação Jurídica e a crise brasileira”, texto extraído da aula inaugural dos cursos da Faculdade Nacional de Direito proferida em 1955, San Tiago Dantas expôs a decadência de um modelo alimentado pelas classes dirigentes, desconectado das necessidades básicas da sociedade. Dizia San Tiago Dantas: “Quem percorre os programas de ensino das nossas escolas, e sobretudo quem ouve as aulas que nelas se proferem, sob a forma elegante e indiferente da aula-douta coimbrã, vê que o objetivo atual do ensino jurídico é proporcionar aos estudantes o conhecimento descritivo e sistemático de instituições e normas jurídicas. Poderíamos dizer que o curso jurídico é, sem exagero, um curso de institutos jurídicos, apresentados sob a forma expositiva de tratado teórico-prático”. Na mesma senda, Rui Barbosa, no início do século passado, denunciava o tradicional método de ensino jurídico como fator proibitivo do próprio processo de aprendizado.
