  Délinquances, crimes et répression dans l'histoire

  La question de la délinquance, dans l’acception la plus générale du terme, se révèle particulièrement complexe car les criminologues, sociologues, psychologues, psychanalystes, médecins, juristes, historiens qui ont abondamment étudié ce sujet ont émis des opinions souvent très différentes, voire contradictoires. Les difficultés surgissent dès qu’il s’agit de qualifier le phénomène. En droit français, le mot délinquance désigne tous les types d’infractions. Celles-ci se répartissent en trois catégories : les contraventions qui constituent les infractions les plus légères, les délits qui se situent à un niveau intermédiaire et les crimes parmi lesquels on distingue les meurtres, homicides volontaires non prémédités, et les assassinats, homicides volontaires prémédités.

  Circulation multilingue des savoirs et histoires transnationales de la géographie

  Durant les cinquante dernières années, le champ de l’histoire de la géographie a connu un mouvement de transformation de ces approches, passant d’une lecture par les écoles nationales à une appréhension par la circulation des savoirs et des connaissances à différentes échelles. L’histoire des sciences et de la géographe a ainsi incorporé des concepts tels que « transit », « reseaux », « mobilités», « transferts », « circulations », « centres de calcul », « espaces de connaissance », « géographie des sciences », « mobilité spatiale de la connaissance », « geographies de la lecture et du livre », etc. Plus récemment, un tournant a émergé, qui considère les dynamiques et les nécessités de décoloniser l’histoire de la géographie et de la production de savoirs géographiques. Cette thématique apparaît aujourd’hui comme l’une des plus actives dans le champ de l’histoire de la géographie.

  The Association international d’études du sud-est européen is happy to invite you to the 12^th Congress of South-East European Studies, taking place in Bucharest, from the 2^nd to the 7^th of September 2019. One of the conference panels, organized by Robert Born (Leipzig) and Marian Coman (Bucharest), is dedicated to the cartographic history of south-eastern Europe. Proposals for individual papers are welcome on various aspects of the history of south-eastern Europe cartography, from the Ottoman period to the post-communist era. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: Renaissance and Early Modern maps of the Ottoman Empire, Enlightenment cartographies of Eastern Europe, the birth of national cartography, war and peace cartographies, historical and propaganda maps, national and local surveys, Cold War cartographies.

  Para su 11a edición, RITA proponer interrogar en su sección temática Thema los vínculos entre poder y medios de comunicación en las Américas. Varias pistas de reflexión pueden ser evocadas sin por lo tanto ser exclusivas. Naturalmente, los artículos que traten del análisis crítico de medios oficiales o de los medios de oposición serán bienvenidos. Otras contribuciones podrán estudiar los efectos de los diferentes tratos mediáticos reservados a los movimientos populares. También esperamos análisis críticos de los vínculos entre medios y poderes económicos. El dossier temático también podrá integrar reflexiones sobre la reciente diversificación de los medios de información, focalizándose por ejemplo en el surgimiento de medios “alternativos” en Internet, o tratando del poder de los fake news en la construcción de representaciones colectivas.

  Costs and Alternatives to Border Fencing

  More border walls and border fences are being built every year all across the world. Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Morocco, and Tunisia are among the latest to announce yet another border fence. Twenty-five years ago it was believed that the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reconfiguration of international relations would open an age of globalization in which States would become obsolete, ushering in a world without borders. In the wake of 9/11, however, borders came back in light, new borders were created and new border walls erected. In the wake of the Arab Spring, came even more border barriers and walls, symbols that were thought to have disappeared with the collapse of the bipolar international system. Today, they reinforce borderlines the world over, transforming both soft and semi-permeable borders alike into sealed, exclusionary hard borders. Walls are symbols of identity reaffirmation, markers of State sovereignty, instruments of dissociation, locus of a growing violence.

  Festivals in Hainaut at the time of Jacques du Broeucq

  The aim of the conference is to bring to widespread public notice a famed series of occasions when, as the hub of Renaissance Europe, the Low Countries commanded the continent’s attention, with Hainaut and its capital Mons featuring as the site of the most famous and influential events. These took place in 1549 when Charles V, Count of Hainaut and Holy Roman Emperor, attempted to determine the continent’s dynastic, political and economic future by nominating as his successor his son Philip of Spain. With this aim in mind, Charles’s sister Mary of Hungary commissioned a series of magnificent festivals, the most lavish of which took place in September of that year at her palaces close to Mons at Binche and Mariemont.
