  « Sans famille » en Europe centrale : Réinventer l'orphelin de l'ère fasciste à l'ère socialiste

  Contrat doctoral international H/F 2020-2023

  Ce contrat doctoral international de 36 mois à temps plein à Sorbonne Université (école doctorale IV), dans l'UMR Eur'ORBEM, en partenariat avec le Centre français de recherche en sciences sociales (CEFRES) à Prague, se déroulera à partir du 1er octobre 2020, sous la direction de Clara Royer. La thèse peut être rédigée en français ou en anglais. La thèse sera consacrée aux discours et pratiques relatifs aux orphelins dans la littérature et/ou les arts visuels (cinéma, photographie, arts plastiques, etc.) dans le sillage des violences et des bouleversements démographiques qui ont marqué l'Europe centrale au XX^e siècle. Interdisciplinaire, la thèse est ouverte à des candidats en histoire sociale, en études littéraires et/ou en arts visuels spécialisés dans un ou plusieurs pays de la région.

  Divided memories, shared memories: Poland, Russia, Ukraine

  History mirrored in literature and cinema

  In Central and Eastern European countries, memorial questions appeared right after the demise of the communist regimes in 1989–1991, revealing long-denied processes. The phenomenon of the rise of repressed memories along with the rewriting of history, and the political uses of the past are noticeable in Poland, Russia, and Ukraine, three countries whose histories are as often shared as their memories are divided. The “memory wars” in which these three states have sometimes been engaged since the end of the 1980s have been the subject of an abundant historiography.

  Genealogies of memory in Central and Eastern Europe

  Images as witnesses to history, materialized memories or their active co-creators? The multi-faceted relationship between the past and its visual representations will be the main focus of the 7th edition of the international genealogies of memory conference to be held in Warsaw on 6-8 December. The agenda features inter alia lectures by Ernst van Alphen, Robert Hariman, Constantin Parvulescu and Wojciech Suchocki, as well as Mieke Bal leading the tour of her own video-installations entitled “Dis-Remembered: A Long History of Madness” and “Mis-Remembered: Reasonable Doubt”.

  Repetition/s: Performance and Philosophy in Ljubljana

  Contemporary developments in the increasingly intertwined fields of philosophy and performance call for a renewed inquiry into the question of repetition. With its unique critique of ideology arising from a synthesis of German Idealism and Lacanian psychoanalysis, the Ljubljana School (Dolar, Zupančič, Žižek et al.) continues to furnish important theorisations of repetition and performance as they pertain to subjectivity and the political. One of the primary aims of “Repetition/s” will be to investigate and develop the usefulness of the Ljubljana School’s theorisations for the emerging field of Performance Philosophy.
