  Europe and Europeanness exposed to plural observers (9th Edition)

  The 9^th International Conference ‘Europe Inside-Out: Europe and Europeanness Exposed to Plural Observers’ aims exactly to refresh a broader approach and understanding of Europe by enlarging the platform of regular conferences and workshops for a wider arena of participants and disciplinary backgrounds in order to put on stage a worldwide monadology for such concerns. The conference aims also to enable critical alternatives to the disciplinary orthodoxies by creating a framework for interaction and dissemination of diversity that has to become once more a European trademark.

  Envisioning Latin America: Power and Representation in audiovisual (re)productions

  Forma Revista d'Estudis Comparatius. Art, Literatura, Pensament

  This issue seeks to critically address power structures in audiovisual (re)productions in and from Latin America and discuss how these play a role in the societal construction and representation of individual and collective identities, the ‘us’ and the ‘other’. By doing so, it aims at understanding how these representations – and broader discourses associated therewith – can be critically examined through media productions (cinema, television, radio, photography etc.) and their use as historical sources.

  How do we globalize the long eighteenth century?

  Quelle globalisation pour le long XVIIIe siècle ?

  Every student of the 17th or 18th century encounters in his or her own way the global historical dimensions of the more or less ‘domestic’ (provincial, national) subject being addressed. For decades, perhaps, many of us ignored these ramifications, which among other things were hard to treat because we are generally hardpressed to bring to such subjects the kind of specialized knowledge we are used to. (There are of course exceptions, involving colleagues who consciously adopt a global approach, e.g. Atlantic studies, though even these are no doubt truncated in different ways.) In all, the global was not an ‘aporia’ of our studies, so much as something more or less difficult to draw into the discussion and, in that sense, an ‘impensé’.

  Premier congrès international de jeunes chercheurs en sciences humaines

  La revue Forma, l'Institut Universitari de Cultura et le Département de sciences humaines de l'Universitat Pompeu Fabra sont heureux d'acueillir le premier congrès international de chercheurs en scienes humaines, qui aura lieu du 18 à 20 d'avril 2012 sur le Campus de la Ciutadella de la UPF (Barcelone). Cet évènement a comme objectif de proposer un espace où les étudiants, qui commencent des investigations dans le domaine des sciences humaines, peuvent confronter leurs propres conclusions, sujets et méthodologies.
