Terra Foundation Collection Research Fellowship in American Art at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza

This two-year fellowship in Madrid, administered by the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, is devoted to original research on nineteenth-century American paintings in the museum's permanent collection. The fellow’s research will contribute to a new display of the American collection, a scholarly publication, and an international symposium.

2019 Charles C. Eldredge Prize

The Smithsonian American Art Museum is now accepting nominations for the 2019 Charles C. Eldredge Prize. Single-author books devoted to any aspect of the visual arts of the United States and published in the three previous calendar years are eligible. To nominate a book, send a one-page letter explaining the work’s significance to the field of American art history and discussing the quality of the author’s scholarship and methodology. Nominations by authors or publishers for their own books will not be considered.

Todo Fontanarrosa: la obra de un completo humorista

Cuando el argentino Roberto Fontanarrosa falleció en el año 2007, el país declaró duelo nacional y miles de admiradores asistieron a su funeral. Si bien este humorista es muy querido y recordado y su trabajo ha recibido múltiples reconocimientos, a la fecha existen muy pocas publicaciones académicas sobre su obra. La propuesta de esta antología es suplir esta falta al considerar en profundidad la producción de Fontanarrosa en su conjunto.

SOIMA 2015 International Conference

The conference is based on the collective experience of ICCROM’s multi-partner programme on Sound and Image Collections Conservation (SOIMA), which organized five capacity building initiatives (four international and one regional) in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America during 2007-2014. Building on SOIMA’s global insights from bringing together 89 sound and image professionals from 55 countries to date, the 2015 conference is making a strong case for looking beyond professional and institutional boundaries, actively listening to each other and sharing strategies to ensure a safe and creative tomorrow for sound and image heritage. The conference aims to promote the sound and image heritage held by diverse and lesser-known cultural and research institutions, as well as individual collectors.

Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London, 2013-2015 The deadline for all fellowship applications is January 15, 2013. This two-year postdoctoral fellowship supports advanced inquiry in the history of American art, conservation, and museum studies and is integrated with the postdoctoral fellowship program of the Courtauld Institute of Art Research Forum. The selected fellow teaches three historical American art courses, participates in scholarly activities organized by the institute, and organizes an international scholarly event. Vers une meilleure connaissance et conservation des collections ethnographiques extra-européennes d’archerie

Le Musée Muséum départemental des Hautes-Alpes organise trois journées d’étude, de rencontre et d’échange, sur le thème des arcs et flèches des collections ethnographiques extra-européennes. Les sujets de discussion porteront sur l’identification, la valorisation et la conservation de ce type de collection. A cette occasion le musée sortira de ses réserves sa collection ethnographique constituée de pièces provenant d’Océanie, Afrique, Asie et Amérique. Ce séminaire s’adresse aux chercheurs, anthropologues, médiateurs, professionnels de la conservation et de l’univers muséal.
