Intégrer le genre à l’histoire de l’aide humanitaire : Europe (XXe-XXIe siècles)

À l’heure des élections européennes, un colloque international se tient à Angers sur un sujet qui porte sur l’histoire de l’action humanitaire à l’échelle de l’Europe, à partir de la première guerre mondiale jusqu’à aujourd’hui avec l’investissement de l’Union européenne dans l’aide humanitaire. Le colloque pluridisciplinaire, Intégrer le genre à l’histoire de l’aide humanitaire, interroge l’action humanitaire au prisme des questions du genre. Il s’agit de comprendre en quoi le genre a pu avoir un impact sur le travail humanitaire et en quoi l’absence de prise en compte du genre a pu se répercuter sur les actions de terrain.

This conference will close a four-years French-Taiwanese research project (ANR/MOST) on Maritime Knowledge for Asian seas (seaFaring), which propose to reconsider, and possibly to review, our knowledge on China’s seafaring tradition through a new approach focusing on the practical know-how available to the craftsmen, seamen and merchants during the 16^th-18^th centuries, with special emphasis on sailing and trading knowledge and practices.

A place for places: current trends and challenges in the development and use of geo-historical gazetteers

Digital Humanities 2016 pre-conference Workshop

The 1^st edition of the workshop “A place for places” will hold in conjunction with the “2016 Digital Humanities conference” in Kraków, Poland. The present workshop aims to investigate the latest developments of geo-historical gazetteers and their impact in natural language processing and digital humanities studies. In particular the workshop will deal with crucial problems concerning the geo-spatial models of representation for ancient places, and the management of temporal information for geographic features in general. Current projects concerning the publication of geo-historical data as Linked Open Data, as well as their exploitation for annotating and enriching texts will also be discussed, alongside with more theoretical issues on vocabularies and ontologies.

Les circulations artistiques Sud-Sud

L'internationalisme décentré affiché par les biennales de la Havane, de Dakar ou de Gwangju, invite à ne plus se contenter d’une conception nord-atlantique de l'histoire de l'art, et à considérer sérieusement des villes et régions qui ont été marginalisées peut-être plus encore de nos sujets de recherche que des circulations artistiques effectives. L’historicisation et la mesure des circulations artistiques dans les marges sont aujourd’hui des tâches décisives pour démontrer, nuancer ou contester la “provincialisation” de l’Occident dans l’histoire récente de l’art. C’est l’objet de la prochaine conférence Artl@s, qui cherche à réunir des chercheurs de tous horizons géographiques et disciplinaires afin de réfléchir ensemble à l’hypothèse de circulations artistiques « Sud-Sud » depuis la décolonisation jusqu’à aujourd’hui.

Sephardic Book Art of the XVth century

This conference will focus on the cultural and artistic questions posed by Sephardic codices of the 15th century by gathering scholars who have studied or are studying these manuscripts. Moreover, issues related with the materiality of these manuscripts will also be discussed, including codicological and paleographic approaches, as well as the fate of these manuscripts after the forced conversion or expulsion of Sephardic Jews between 1492 and 1498, among other related topics. Invited speakers include Andreina Contessa, Javier del Barco, Katrin Kogman-Appel, Maria Teresa Ortega Monasterio, Sarit Shalev-Eyni, Shalom Sabar, Sonia Fellous.

L’historiographie continue de nous dispenser une image assez figée des « scribes » médiévaux, qu’il s’agisse des moines à l’œuvre dans le silence du scriptorium, des notaires toujours au four et au moulin, des clercs de chancellerie produisant des actes à la chaîne dans des ruches d’écriture officielle... Quelle part de réalité dans ces images d’Épinal ? Il s’agit de se demander qui écrit au Moyen Âge, plus spécifiquement dans le domaine foisonnant et méconnu du document normatif ou pratique destiné à faire archive. Quels sont les profils de ces scriptores – scribes, scripteurs, écrivants, « scribouillards » de toutes espèces – au service des grands princes ou des petits seigneurs, des officiers de justice ou des cours foncières, des grands ordres monastiques ou d’humbles collégiales, des autorités urbaines ou des communautés villageoises ?

The Vatican Film Library and its journal, Manuscripta, annually host the Saint Louis Conference on Manuscript Studies. The conference, known familiarly as the Manuscripta Conference, has no set theme and serves as a general forum for manuscript scholars to meet and discuss their work with colleagues. Each year a distinguished scholar is invited to deliver the Fr. Lowrie J. Daly, S.J. Memorial Lecture on Manuscript Studies. Topics addressed at the conference range from Antiquity through the early modern period and include, but are not limited to: Paleography, Illumination, Binding, Library History, Textual Criticism, Codicology, Book Production, Diplomatics, Reading and Literacy, Manuscript Cataloguing.

Ce colloque est l’occasion de faire le point sur les représentations de l’archéologue et de l’archéologie dans les médias. L’analyse de la presse écrite et audiovisuelle (radio, cinéma, documentaire) et de la littérature (roman, bande dessinée, etc.) seront autant d’axes pour comprendre la perception de l’archéologue dans notre société, dans les supports médiatiques en eux-mêmes ou auprès des publics qui reçoivent ces discours. Deux perspectives sont principalement envisagées : les fictions et les médias vulgarisateurs, même si des ponts peuvent évidemment être établis entre les deux.

Kodikologie und Paläographie im digitalen Zeitalter / Codicology and Paleography in the Digital Age

The conference will focus on the challenges and consequences of using IT and the internet for codicological and palaeographic research. The authors of some selected articles of an anthology to be published this summer by the Institute for Documentology and Scholarly Editing (IDE) will present and discuss their excellent research results with scholars and experts working on ancient books and manuscripts. A panel discussion will be held with renowned exponents in the field of codicology and palaeography and contributors of cutting edge research to get an overview of the state of the art as well as to open up new perspectives of codicological and palaeographic research in the “digital age”.
