  Études éthiopiennes et humanités numériques : outils et projets

  Beta maṣāḥəft, Ethiopian Manuscript Archives, EthioMap

  L’objectif de cet atelier est de créer les conditions d’émergence d’une communauté scientifique utilisant les outils collaboratifs numériques au sein des études éthiopiennes. Il n’est pas besoin de rappeler le contexte scientifique et technologique qui est le nôtre pour comprendre l’importance et les enjeux de cette révolution méthodologique. De nombreuses initiatives ont  vu le jour depuis deux décennies, aussi bien en ce qui concerne la mise à disposition de documentation numérisée que d’outils permettant d’utiliser cette documentation. Après les premières expérimentations, l’interopérabilité et la mutualisation sont devenues les maîtres mots, et les études éthiopiennes se doivent de répondre à ces bonnes pratiques.

  The Visual History Archive, Research Experience

  Founded by the film director Steven Spielberg in 1994, the Visual History Archive is a collection of testimonies recorded in order to preserve the words, faces, gestures and histories of genocide survivors. Digitized and indexed to the minute (with more than 62 000 keywords), the Visual History Archive is now reachable in full access in 66 universities and libraries in 14 countries. In France, it is fully accessible at the George and Irina Schaeffer Center for the Study of Genocide, Human Rights and Conflict Prevention of the American University of Paris and at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Lyon. Now more than ever, scholars can search the Visual History Archive for research on the Second World War or on the other crimes of mass violence which have been more recently appended to the collection. The aim of this journée d’étude is to gather scholars from different disciplines who have carried out research on or with the Visual History Archive. Participants will have the opportunity to share their research results and experiences.

  Travailler sur / avec les archives et l'écrit en anthropologie et en études littéraires

  Perspectives sur le monde swahili

  This theme is intended to reflect the rapprochement of the research objects and theoretical perspectives of anthropology and literary studies. This rapprochement offers opportunities to discuss commonalities and differences in how archives and texts are explored and analysed. It also intends to interrogate the relations between the written word and orality and performance. As historians and philologists working on Arabic and Swahili manuscripts have demonstrated, due to early Islamization and the preservation of documents, the Swahili world is characterized by the pervasiveness of the written word. As a result it is a particularly relevant site in which to engage in such theoretical and epistemological reflections.

  Séminaire du projet Baguala

  Trois praticiens de l’analyse d’hyperliens présenteront un bilan des avancées récentes dans l’étude de cette composante essentielle du web, présentant des méthodes et démarches auxquelles font appel de plus en plus fréquemment la sociologie, les sciences politiques, les sciences de l’information ou encore la géographie.

  Symposium sur la TEI et l'édition scientifique

  This symposium, to be held in conjunction with a meeting of the TEI Council, will explore such questions through a series of presentations outlining the current state of the art in institutional publishing operations such as those of universities in the UK, France, US, and Australia, from the point of view of private sector publishers (among which the NLM DTDs are increasingly adopted), and from international initiatives where interoperability has been identified as a major factor (e.g., PEER, which includes European research institutions, repositories, and STM publishers). The objective is to identify current difficulties in making publication systems interoperable and identify priority actions for the TEI to intervene in this arena.
