History and polemics: historiographical debates and the public space

Ever since history became an academic knowledge, historiographical debates have been exceptional moments of construction, condensation and dissensus, often resulting in historiographical turns. Controversies around specific themes have divided entire fields of knowledge production, bringing into light different, often contrasting conceptions, methodologies and practices of historical knowledge. Such debates were, at the same time, moments in which the description and interpretation of the past represented a public intervention in the present, in which the defense of a certain way of making sense of history was also a way of taking of sides in a specific contemporary political discussion. Historiographical polemics were therefore moments in which historiographical knowledge had to confront in the public space other approaches to the past, thus making visible, and challenging, the paradigms that rule the historical discipline and public history.

#MariellePresente - Résistances transnationales

La revue Cahiers sur le Genre et la Diversité, une revue féministe et queer du nord-est du Brésil, invite toutes et tous à soumettre des articles, des essais, des interviews, des journaux de terrain, des rapports d'expériences et d'autres textes pour le numéro spécial « #MariellePresente: Résistances transnationales ». Les textes doivent décrire et analyser les réponses transnationales suite à l'assassinat de la brésilienne Marielle Franco. Elle était une femme noire de la favela, militante politique, féministe et lesbienne. Elle a été assassinée au coin d'une rue à Rio de Janeiro en mars 2018. Étant donné le caractère politique de son assassinat, de nombreuses actions dénonçant le crime ont été organisées dans le monde entier.

Estatutos, usos e apropriações da memória: reflexões a partir de diferentes olhares disciplinares

A memória nas ciências humanas é, certo, intrinsecamente contígua à pesquisa histórica. Portanto, ela abarca as disciplinas nelas inscritas por meio de diferentes “métodos” e recursos que evoluíram no decorrer dos séculos segundo a relação que se manteve com os diversos suportes materiais e imateriais dessa fonte incomensurável que é a memória. De Sócrates/Platão (maiêutica - questionamentos e memória) e Epicuro (prolepse - repetições e memória) à Freud, Halbwachs, Marc Ferro e Paul Ricœur, entre tantos outros (cf. bibliografia indicativa), a memória é pensada como sendo perceptível dentro de um eixo flexível muitas vezes à beira do esquecimento a despeito de todo rigor acadêmico requerido e da tentativa de apreender esse sistema complexo.

Le Mozambique est encore très largement géré par l'administration de l'État central: il n'y a que 58 municipalités, toutes urbaines. La questionne est donc très politique, puisque toute avancée de la municipalisation permet à l'opposition d'acquérir plus de poids, même si le parti au pouvoir garde le contrôle sur la majorité d'entre elles. Ce colloque international aura lieu une dizaine de jours après la tenue des élections municipales d'octobre 2018, qui seront un test grandeur nature pour les élections présidentielles et législatives de l'année suivante...

Este seminário marca o início da agenda científica do Grupo de Trabalho Transições Tecnológicas: Memórias, Saberes e Práticas, constituído no âmbito do Colégio F3. A articulação entre alimentação, saúde e ambiente expressa, de forma inequívoca, a base em que assenta a relação milenar homem / natureza. Privilegiando uma abordagem multidisciplinar, este encontro pretende ser um fórum de discussão em torno das questões básicas do quotidiano das comunidades humanas, em especial as que respeitam à alimentação e à saúde e bem-estar na sua relação com o ambiente, considerando, por um lado, uma perspetiva de análise histórica que contemple diversidades geográficas, culturais e tecnológicas e, por outro, os desafios atuais face à globalização, à escassez de recursos, à sua sobre-exploração e às inovações tecnológicas para superar as dificuldades e / ou as consequências negativas dessa exploração.

Penser les droites en Amérique latine au XXe siècle

Ce colloque s'inscrit dans la continuité de deux précédentes rencontres qui se sont tenues en France (2014) et en Argentine (2016), et à travers lesquelles s'est progressivement constituée une communauté de chercheurseusses travaillant sur les identités, les idées, les pratiques et les discours d'acteurs et de mouvements appartenant aux droites latinoaméricaines. Il reste difficile d'établir les limites précises du concept de "droite" en raison de l'hétérogénéité et de la pluralité des groupes qui ont, historiquement, appartenu à cette famille caractérisée par la diversité de ses traditions politiques. Il est donc essentiel de penser des frontières mobiles dès que l'on considère le phénomène des droites dans leur historicité et les changements qu'elles ont subis au cours du temps. Ce constat établi, nous n'avons pas la prétention de proposer des définitions canoniques, mais seulement de réfléchir aux cadres généraux d'un champ d'études dont la pertinence historique et l'actualité ne sont plus à démontrer, mais dont les limites et les caractéristiques fondamentales font toujours débat.

Amílcar Cabral: The “Anonymous Fighter” for the Mankind Fundamental Freedoms

In 1971, Amílcar Cabral presented himself in the United Nations (UN) as an “anonymous fighter” engaged in the struggle for the fundamental freedoms of the populations of Guinea and Cape Verde, as well as of all mankind. Such affirmation was not casual, since Cabral adopted the status of “anonymous fighter” in other circumstances, arguing that he was struggling for the human dignity, progress and happiness. The main goal of the conference is to bring together academics studying Cabral trajectory, institutions involved in preserving his memory and personalities which became acquainted with him.

Gomes Freire de Andrade: the man and his time

In 2017 we celebrate the bicentennial of three remarkable moments in the history of Portugal, Spain, Brazil and the Ibero-American world, the so-called “Revolution of 1817”, in Pernambuco; the “conspiracy” of General Gomes Freire de Andrade against the British tutelage, in Portugal; and the failed liberal pronouncement of General Luis Lacy y Gauthier, in Catalonia, in favor of the Constitution of 1812. In view of the historical and historiographic importance of these events, the Centre for History of the University of Lisbon (CH-ULisboa), in collaboration with the Directorate of History and Military Culture, is organizing an international conference that aims to contribute to debate the crisis of the Iberian empires in the early nineteenth century and the emergence of liberalism and the politicization of Ibero-American societies.

Se para o conjunto africano é perceptível que as diferenças eductivas resultaram fundamentalmente da imposição de diferentes modelos ligados à diferentes realidades colonizadoras, tais diferenças seriam consideradas atípicas quando vistas no interior do mesmo sistema, por um lado, ou dentro do mesmo território colonial, por outro. Contudo, tal atipicidade parece ter dominado, mesmo reconhecendo-se que as colónias africanas estiveram, a partir do século XIX, sob uma mesma dinâmica imposta pela “Modernidade Europeia”. Tal realidade terá sido engendrada, ao que tudo indica, em virtude de nem sempre a tal Modernidade ter sido capaz de manifestar-se da mesma maneira em todos os territórios coloniais.

O próximo congresso da Associação Portuguesa de Antropologia continua o debate sobre os mundos que habitamos, criamos e diferenciamos. O conhecimento das suas pluralidades guia a disciplina há mais de cem anos, em cenários sempre renovados e imprevistos, persiste e levanta novos desafios no quadro contemporâneo de um antropoceno (ou na sua versão mais radical, capitoloceno) indefinido em termos de responsabilidades decisivas sobre o devir colectivo de humanos e não humanos. Enquanto os poderes políticos públicos privilegiam escalas de conhecimento macrossociais reveladas por estatísticas e quadros analíticos normativistas e normalizadores, propomos contrapor e acrescentar o conhecimento que aprendemos com a etnografia e a antropologia, mais próximo da escala da experiência vivida, dando atenção às vozes, corpos, desejos, subjectividades, comunidades, identidades, na ansiedade dos passados, presentes e futuros próximos, perante a incompletude das grandes narrativas ideológicas.
