The return of the Wigalois

A handwriting of the 15th century in the focus of new research approaches

On June 18th and 19th 2020 the Badische Landesbibliothek organizes the international and interdisciplinary congress “The return of the Wigalois - a handwriting of the 15th century in the focus of new research approaches”. The congress presents and discusses first results of the again possible scientific altercation with materiality of the handwriting, its production context and the book market at the upper Rhine, for which it was produced.

Auf der Tagung werden die neuesten Forschungsergebnisse und –projekte aus den Bereichen der ostnordischen Linguistik, Handschriftentransmission sowie Paläographie und Kodikologie vorgestellt und diskutiert. Zudem finden zwei Workshops statt, die das das Thema E-Learning in der Ostnordistik sowie ein geplantes Handbuch zur ostnordischen Philologie diskutieren.

O evento dedica-se a Alexander von Humboldt, bem como aos contextos e circunstâncias de uma Ciência Humboldtiana entre Polônia, Brasil e Alemanha. O nome Humboldt evoca aqui tanto o objeto partilhado entre diversos trabalhos no âmbito das ciências da cultura, quanto o modelo de uma ciência transdisciplinar e transareal. Grupos de pesquisa que assumem para si o desafio transareal precisam contar não apenas com a competência intercultural dos pesquisadores e pesquisadoras em particular, mas também com a efetiva colaboração entre instituições, para além do intercâmbio bilateral.

Forschungen der Digital Humanities und Computerphilologie

Innerhalb der Workshopreihe philtag kommen Wissenschaftler der Geistes- und Kulturwissenschaften zusammen, die verstärkt digitale Methoden in ihren Forschungen anwenden. Dabei werden aber nicht nur Forschungen mit primär philologischen Inhalt vorgestellt, sondern das Vortragsspektrum reicht von digitalen Editionen bis hin zu „Vektorzeichnungen von Keilschrifttafeln aus 3D-Modellen“ (Hubert Mara, Universität Heidelberg) der Informatik und „Geovisualisierung und Dialektlexikographie“ (Eveline Wandl-Vogt, Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften) der Korpuslinguistik. Einen besonderen Höhepunkt stellt der Abendvortrag von Hugh Craig (University of Newcastle) zu „Traditional, experimental, typical, aberrant: a distant reading of 376 late twentieth-century British novels“ dar.

Der Untertan de Heinrich Mann

Pour un roman et une société modernes

« Der Untertan » (Le Sujet) de Heinrich Mann fera l’objet d’une journée d’étude à la Maison Heinrich Heine à Paris, organisée en coopération avec l’EA 2115 Histoire des Représentations de l’Université de Tours et le DAAD. La journée proposera analyses et nouvelles mises en perspective de ce roman achevé en juillet 1914, par lequel son auteur entreprit la critique satirique de l’ « âme publique » allemande à l’époque wilhelminienne, affirmant ainsi la nécessité de transformations à la fois politiques et esthétiques dans ce pays.
