  Herder – Raynal – Merkel

  Transformationen der Antikolonialismusdebatte in der europäischen Aufklärung

  Die Rezeption der Schriften von Guillaume-Thomas Raynal zeigt eine facettenreiche Transformation seiner auf die außereuropäische Welt bezogenen Autonomiekonzeption durch die Geschichtsphilosophie Johann Gottfried Herders sowie die Schriften von Garlieb Merkel, der seine Kolonialismuskritik gegen die bedrückenden Verhältnisse in den russischen Ostseeprovinzen wendet. Im Zentrum der Arbeitstagung stehen deshalb der von Raynal initiierte Paradigmenwechsel in der Sicht der Europäer auf die außereuropäische Welt, Herders theologisch grundierte historische Anthropologie sowie Merkels sozialpolitisch motiviertes Befreiungsnarrativ, das die nationalkulturelle Selbstfindung in den baltischen Ländern maßgeblich beeinflusst hat.

  Personal Influence on the Rulers of Imperial Rome and the Early Middle Ages

  Since rulers of the Imperial Roman Period and the Early Middle Ages occupied the highest (secular) position, individuals who exerted influence on them enjoyed a great extent of power. As a consequence, there was bitter rivalry between the various agents, which is reflected in discourses on legitimate and illegitimate influence. The goal of the conference is to establish interpersonal influence as a subject of historical research. Furthermore the study of influence on rulers is to make a contribution towards political history as well as the history of mentalities and discourse.

  Changing schools in post-1945 Germany - transnational perspectives

  Cet atelier a pour but d’inscrire l’histoire scolaire des deux Allemagnes après 1945 dans un contexte transnational. Au-delà d’une analyse des politiques de ré-éducation des occupants alliés, déjà bien étudiées, nous proposons d’articuler le questionnement autour de trois axes de recherche nous paraissant novateurs.

  Modern history research in Europe. The state of affairs and perspectives

  L’Institut historique allemand de Paris organise du 20 au 21 octobre 2011, en collaboration avec le Centre de recherches historiques de l‘École des hautes études en sciences sociales de Paris (Christophe Duhamelle) et du Département d’histoire de l’Université Johannes Gutenberg de Mayence (Matthias Schnettger) un colloque international consacré au thème suivant : « La recherche en histoire moderne en Europe. État des lieux et perspectives ». Cette rencontre se fixe pour objectif de présenter un instantané de notre discipline et de réfléchir ensemble à son avenir.
