The Maghreb of Anthropologists : Actors, Practices and Spaces
The conference The Maghreb of Anthropologists : Actors, Practices and Spaces will focus on these shifts in the anthropology of the Maghreb. It will investigate the emergence of new actors, practices and spaces within and in relation to Maghreb anthropology, whether these are thematic, methodological, linguistic, bibliographical, conceptual, theoretical or epistemological in nature. It will also raise questions that are more institutional and that relate to issues of training, career trajectories and, more broadly, the power structures that shape higher education.

Thinking from the Dual – Ontology, Theology and the Humanities through the Lens of the “Muthannā”
This international conference explores the philosophical and theological implications of the Arabic grammatical dual (al-muthannā). Situated between the paradigms of unity and multiplicity that have long structured philosophical thought, the dual offers a distinctive relational structure in which two terms are held together without fusion or hierarchy. Taking this linguistic form as a conceptual starting point, the conference investigates the possibility of thinking relation itself as originary. Particular attention will be given to the concept of ʿahd (covenant, pact, commitment) as a relational event in Islamic theology and beyond. Bringing together philosophers, theologians, and scholars from the humanities and social sciences, the conference seeks to open a field of inquiry devoted to the ontological, theological, and anthropological significance of the dual in contemporary thought.

In May 2027, the DeCoLa programme at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law will host the fourth edition of its Decolonial Comparative Law Workshop series in Cameroon. Organised in partnership with the Fondation Afric’Avenir, this edition seeks to rethink the divide between the formal and informal economy through a decolonial comparative legal approach. It also aims to contribute to the consolidation of a decolonial comparative law community across the African continent and beyond.

Commémorer, célébrer et entretenir la mémoire collective
الذاكزة الجماعية، إحياؤها والاحتفاء بها
La commémoration, en tant que fait de mémoire et pratique sociale, suscite un intérêt certain dans le champ académique. Elle met en scène des cérémonies solennelles et rituelles, fortement codifiées en évoquant la mémoire collective, en tant qu’histoire vivante (Halbwachs, 1997). À travers diverses cérémonies, qu'elles soient formelles ou informelles, institutionnelles ou populaires, autour de monuments commémoratifs, de stèles, d'espaces naturels ou habités, ainsi que de dates significatives, elle conjure l'oubli et subvertit l'autorité du passé (Nora, 2000) pour être au service du présent. Liée à la mémoire, au souvenir (Lavabre,1994), à l'imaginaire, aux croyances et au culte, la commémoration revêt divers aspects politiques, historiques, culturels, rituels, religieux, festifs, etc. On ne peut lui attribuer un seul sens, au point qu'il convient plutôt de parler de commémorations au pluriel, de diversités et de divergences commémoratives bien que des groupes particuliers s’érigent en « société de mémoire » (Michonneau, 2002) pour définir un passé commun à l’ensemble de la communauté. On peut alors distinguer plusieurs formes de commémorations : officielle, populaire, civile, militaire, collective ou individuelle, occasionnelle, régulière, souvent convergentes sur un même objet ou motif commémoratif : date, personnage, événement, lieu, etc.

Les mandataires judiciaires à la protection des majeurs (MJPM) exercent les prérogatives attachées aux fonctions de curateur (en titre, subrogé curateur, curateur ad hoc, ou cocurateur), de tuteur (en titre, subrogé tuteur, tuteur ad hoc, ou cotuteur) et de mandataire spécial (en sauvegarde de justice). Treize ans après le colloque du 19 octobre 2012 sur la métamorphose des professionnels de la protection juridique des majeurs, une nouvelle journée d’étude est programmée sur ce thème pour déterminer ensemble quel(s) sens donner à cette jeune profession.

Cet appel invite artistes, musiciens, vidéastes, plasticiens, performeurs, designers et créateurs de tous horizons à proposer des œuvres explorant les interactions entre le son, la musique et les arts visuels, à travers le thème du rythme et de ses métamorphoses. L’objectif est d’encourager la création de formes artistiques où le dialogue entre le sonore et le visuel révèle de nouvelles perceptions du rythme comme pulsation, comme mouvement, comme transformation sensible du temps et de l’espace.

Temporary Migration (20th –21st Centuries): Spaces, Regulation, and Imaginaries
Recent migration research has recently adopted intersectional approaches by disputing age categories, Gender, and class, which have long been pivotal to the study of migrant populations. Despite being the focus of sustained scholarly inquiry, these domains continue to exhibit notable limitations particularly in areas where migrants navigate conditions of “illegality” and where state authorities frequently respond with various forms of repression, including violence, detention, stop-and-search practices, and police surveillance. This symposium will thus serve as a platform for scholars and practitioners to exchange methodological insights into short-range mobility and to explore innovative approaches to researching migration contexts. Furthermore, it will provide a critical space to examine how funding agencies shape, influence, and/or potentially limit migration research agendas.

Il s’agit donc d’une approche pluridisciplinaire visant à mettre l’accent sur les jeux et les enjeux de tous ces duels existentiels qui ont marqué l’histoire de l’humanité et la manière dont elle a évoluée.

The 1st International Forum on Design, Desert, and Sustainable Development (4D) offers a transdisciplinary reflection on the desert as a space for creation, innovation, and resilience. Held in Tozeur from February 4 to 7, 2026, the forum brings together researchers, artists, designers, engineers, and local stakeholders to explore ecological, social, and aesthetic challenges related to arid environments. It examines the role of design in the sustainable transformation of the desert through three key approaches: the desert as an in situ creative laboratory, an in vitro catalyst for innovation, and an in vivo space for learning.
