Ce colloque sur les humanités numériques en Afrique est un cadre d'échanges qui, au-delà des perspectives interdisciplinaires et pluridisciplinaires, se veut une occasion d'échanges en vue de creuser les limites imposées par le numérique et les sciences sociales. Dans une approche inclusive, il s'agit de montrer en quoi la dématérialisation et la démocratisation de l'information s'érigent en des questions épistémologiques sur le numérique, sur le modèle d’éducation et de culture dans une Afrique en plein essor. Les discussions porteront essentiellement sur le numérique, les lettres, les arts, la pédagogie, la recherche, les sciences sociales et l’émergence de l’Afrique.

Language, end of life, death, and bereavement: an interdisciplinary perspective

With this special issue of Lexique journal our aim is to explore the question of the end of life and bereavement to open up a discussion on its lexical representations in order to facilitate communication around the sensitive subject of death. A variety of methods will be adopted, including corpus-, interview-, and questionnaire-based methods, in order to observe the representation of death-related issues at the lexical level.

A stable and peaceful society is based on a solid and strong democracy. The democratic model is the future of any society that respects human rights. New information and communication technologies and the still poorly regulated advances in Artificial Intelligence have impacted not only all human activity, but have also contributed to reshaping the relationship with politics, citizen participation, political communication and politics. national and international. Digital Archiving in the Arab World (DA|AW)
The first-ever International Conference on Digital Archiving in the Arab World (DA|AW), held in Abu Dhabi in 2019, organized to spark off a series of conferences on the subject. Four years later, and following a global epidemic, it is time to reassemble for exploring and move ahead with the practises, experiences, and challenges of digital archiving in the Arab World. The inaugural colloquium/conference examined the issues of data preservation in the Arab world and eventually resulted in a publication release that continues to serve as a reference for researching the subject today (Bayoumi & Oliveau, 2020). At DAAW|2024, we aspire to address it through the more focused standpoint of the digital management and preservation of data and documents, without foregoing a broader reflection, concerning both historical and future documents and data in danger whether physical or natively digital.

Seront acceptées les propositions qui analysent les changements matériels qui ont lieu dans la structure de la presse espagnole (économique ou politique) en relation avec les processus de démocratisation et d’intégration européenne ; les recherches qui analysent le contenu publié dans la presse sur la manière dont l’idée européenne est présentée aux Espagnols ; ainsi que les travaux qui étudient les profils individuels ou collectifs des personnes ou des groupes impliqués dans ces processus.

Guaranteeing a peaceful climate in a restricted or relatively large space is a challenge, which is why it is almost impossible to list in an exhaustive manner the mechanisms likely to maintain harmony between humans and/or between Nations, as these means are sometimes beyond suspicion. At the same time, it would be tedious to want to list the factors likely to break the tranquility, the state of cohesion, and to generate misunderstandings, conflicts of various kinds and, finally, war. So, how can linguistics and linguistic dynamics (in all forms and manifestations, including literature) be at the origin of social/interhuman, inter-intra-community, inter-State, inter-religious tensions...? And, how could they resolve the said crises and conflict situations? Which linguistic dynamics emerge from these? This is the challenge of this project.

The publication of critical editions and their use for scientific purposes—two essential realities for research in the humanities—have transformed considerably in step with the digital revolutions of our time. With the adoption of the Open Science principles and their dissemination within the scientific community, the Web has become an indispensable place for the publication and digital exploitation of source texts. All things considered, we are still a long way from exploiting the full potential of Web 3.0 (the Web of data). The acceleration of innovation in communication technology and the increasing commodification of personal data have combined with the already hyper-segmented offer of legacy media to throw news media ecologies across the globe in a state of flux. Through selective exposure, users are provided with infinite opportunities to reinforce their pre-existing attitudes and engage with the political process affectively, a phenomenon further compounded by new challenges to journalistic authority that accelerate already existing trends and shake traditional informational hierarchies to their cores. The resulting audience polarization in turn jeopardizes the possibility of a common citizenship, as users are effectively barred from cultivating shared patterns of representation of the social world.

Artistic, Digital, and Political Creation in English-Speaking African Countries
Africa 2020
French President Emmanuel Macron announced on 3rd July 2018 in Lagos that a Special Season would be organized in France, from June to December 2020, to mark a renewed partnership with Africa, a “varied, strong and diverse continent that will play a part in our shared future”. Even if this cultural focus cannot be abstracted from a broader geopolitical agenda marred by controversial presidential declarations, it nevertheless has the potential to offer a somewhat different coverage of the continent. One can only hope that it avoids the temptation to officially “curate into being” “exceptional” artists (Dovey), tapping into the all-too-familiar image of Africa as “the supreme receptacle of the West’s obsession with, and circular discourse about, the facts of ‘absence,’ ‘lack,’ and ‘non-being,’ of identity and difference” (Mbembe).

A forum on current issues in European librarianship
The New Shape of Sharing: Networks, Expertise, Information continues conversations begun at the New Directions Symposium held in Frankfurt in 2017. This multi-day forum of panel presentations, a poster session, and interactive breakout sessions on key issues facing Western European collections and public services will encourage both structured and unstructured debate. We will advance our understanding of the challenges and initiate action in three areas: design new models for collaborative collection development and services; explore a growing range of content and format types and what they mean for libraries and researchers, and highlight the evolving role of libraries and librarians in the research process.
