  Nutrition and Food Production in the Congo Basin

  Nutrition is a universal human right. Population growth and a higher demand for food, together with a changing nutrition pattern, will put the environment, at global level, under a growing pressure in the coming decennia. This pressure will be very strong on regions with a high biodiversity due to the ever growing demand on arable land and an increasing demand for animal protein, which will negatively influence the global ecosystem, the global climate and the biodiversity. The aim of the conference is to highlight a number of topics dealing with nutrition, the demand for food and food production – past and future.

  Festins d'Afrique. L'animal cannibalisé

  À la fois humanisé et nourricier, domestiqué et mis à distance, dompté par la force ou doté de pouvoirs inquiétants, l’animal ne nourrit pas seulement l’estomac de l’homme, mais aussi ses affects et son imagination. Particulièrement en Afrique, les relations à l’animal sont multiples mais à chaque fois sociales, donnant lieu aussi bien à des manières de voisiner au quotidien qu’à des procédures rituelles variées, entre paroles mouvantes et objets chimériques. Ce colloque international, organisé par le Musée des confluences et le Centre de recherches et d’études anthropologiques de l’université Lumière Lyon 2, questionnera le paradoxe qui veut que l’animal africain soit si souvent humanisé pour mieux être mangé, intégré à des objets, naturalisé ou pris dans des imaginaires de la sauvagerie.
