  1989’s contested legacies

  The challenging of ideological, institutional and (geo)political heritage

  This conference aims at rethinking the legacy of 1989 in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) through the prism of its ongoing contestations, with a focus on the current trends and deliberate political efforts that challenge the major achievements of Velvet Revolutions as well as the outcomes of the collapse of the Iron Curtain. 1989 launched a process that continues to this day. Three decades of transformations, crises and setbacks have noticeably changed the shape of Central and Eastern European societies.

  Transnational dimensions of dealing with the past in ‘Third Wave’ democracies

  Southern Europe, Central Eastern Europe, and the Former Soviet Union in Global Perspective

  This conference aims to fill the gap by looking at how post-dictatorial justice and memory experiences in Southern Europe, Central Eastern Europe, and the former Soviet Union after the “third wave of democratization” have reciprocally affected each other. It also seeks to unpack how memorialization practices in these regions were shaped by and influenced in turn criminalization discourses in other geographical contexts (Latin America, Asia, Africa). The conference focuses on transnational activism, transfers of knowledge, and expertise at bilateral, regional or international levels, the impact of legal and mnemonic narratives outside their countries of origin, and the role of international organizations and NGO's in dealing with mass violence. The conference aims thus to trace the mutlidirectional circulation of ideas, norms and models of reckoning with authoritarian regimes both within these regions, and between them and other areas of the world.

  Les violences faites aux femmes dans les PECO (Pays de l’Europe centrale et orientale). Tolérance zéro

  Dans un contexte mondial de crise économique et financière, mais aussi politique et idéologique, force est de constater le ralentissement des progrès en faveur de l’égalité femme-homme et des droits fondamentaux des femmes et des filles, et parfois même leur remise en cause. Des avancées importantes ont été réalisées et les filles de même que les femmes accèdent de plus en plus à l’éducation et à l’emploi, aux services de santé et aux espaces de décisions. Pourtant, la majorité des femmes continuent de subir des discriminations dans tous les domaines : économique, politique et social. En dépit de nombreuses avancées juridiques, leurs droits ne sont pas toujours respectés. Les violences faites aux femmes et aux filles sont un fléau intolérable qui continue de toucher une femme sur sept dans le monde.

  Post-soviet dis-integration and dis-connections (1991-2016)

  25 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union, this conference aims at investigating its transversal consequences from two original standpoints: patterns of integration/disintegration combined to logics of connection / disconnection. These issues have various expressions in societal, normative, linguistic, regional or international fields. The conference will hence tackle a general question: how do political choices, economic contingencies or social phenomena foster or disrupt all kinds of links throughout the post-soviet area?

  Challenging the Social Order: Revolution, Reform and Transformation Under and After Socialism

  International Social Science Summer School in Ukraine - Mykolaiv (Ukraine)

  The 5th Annual International Social Science School, to be held in Mykolaiv, Southern Ukraine, on 2-9 July 2013, will have the theme of “Challenging the Social Order: Revolution, Reform and Transformation Under and After Socialism.” For an intensive week in early July, an international group of twenty doctoral students and up to a dozen faculties are converging to a different town in Ukraine to hear and discuss presentations on ongoing research on a critical theme. The Summer School is designed to be interdisciplinary and international and follows the format of a Workshop. The program also includes lectures and field trips, of historical and contemporary significance, within the region.

  Mission perpétuelle de l’administration publique – être au service de la société

  La mission perpétuelle de l'administration publique est un des domaines problématiques du droit administratif mais qui intéresse de plus en plus les sciences sociales et politiques. Être au service de la société, apparaît de nos jours, comme un idéal plutôt qu'un impératif des services publiques qui du point de la santé, de l'éducation et des transports n'offrent plus des service de qualité aux citoyens. La crise actuelle, a conduit une révision générale des politiques publiques en France qui remet en cause l'accès des plus fragiles à un service public de qualité. Dès lors, il est tout à fait fait légitime de s'interroger sur les missions perpétuelles d'une administration dont l'objectif a été longtemps de rapprocher les administrés de l'administration. Ce colloque a pour principal objectif d'analyser dans une perspective interdisciplinaire de réaffirmer la mission perpétuelle de l'État en tant qu'entité centralisée et décentralisée.

  Politiques familiales et égalité de genre en Europe centrale et orientale

  L’ambition de ces journées d’étude est de rouvrir les débats sur un chantier de recherche encore peu approché sous l’angle comparatif : les politiques familiales et l’égalité de genre en Europe centrale et orientale. Plus précisément, il s’agit de replacer au cœur des débats épistémologiques et méthodologiques actuels la relation entre, d’une part, les mutations d’une intervention publique en matière de vie familiale qui privilégie de manière plus ou moins prononcée le principe d’égalité entre femmes et hommes et, d’autre part, les métamorphoses actuelles de l’institution familiale et des rapports sociaux de sexe dans les pays de l’Europe centrale et orientale.
