  XIXe école de printemps en histoire de l’art

  La dix-neuvième école de printemps du réseau international de formation à l’histoire de l’art est organisée par l’université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne du 21 au 25 juin 2021. Elle réunira (si les conditions le permettent) dans la ville et ses environs une cinquantaine d’étudiantes et d’étudiants, d’enseignantes et d’enseignants pour une semaine de formation à la recherche internationale autour du thème de l’art et de l’alimentation. Elle accueillera deux sessions de la dix-huitième école (« Art and Text ») qui aurait dû avoir lieu à Cambridge en mai 2020. Selon l’évolution de la situation sanitaire, une hybridation numérique maintiendrait le caractère pleinement international de cette édition.

  Summer School in Global and Transnational History: Debating the Past in an Age of Global Disruption

  The Department of History and Civilization (HEC) at the European University Institute (EUI) is happy to announce its sixteenth Summer School in Global and Transnational History, which will take place in September 2020 in the historic Villa Salviati, looking out over the hills of Florence. The Summer School will combine discussion of methodological issues in global, transnational and comparative history with case studies by leading specialists from the European University Institute and other major universities.

  Summer School - History

  An Environmental History of the Great War

  We intend to bring together an international group of 20 to 30 graduate students working on military, cultural, social, and environmental history of the First World War from 2nd to 7th July 2018. Over the course of the week, they will have opportunity to get to know each other, but also a wide range of internationally recognized academic experts. Guided tours on excursions to French and Belgian sites are an integral part of the program and will enrich the participants' experience.

  Summer School - History

  Memory and the making of knowledge in the Early Modern world

  While memory is an established sub-field within these disciplines, its themes and sources have led to an over-representation of the ancient and modern worlds, meaning that the early modern era has been comparatively neglected. The School seeks not merely to redress this imbalance, but also to explore how studies of memory and early modernity might shape one another in the future. Participants in the Summer School, which will take place between 18 and 22 September 2017, will have the opportunity to discuss the most recent research presented by leading scholars in the field, to learn or refine skills in workshops that focus on the media and techniques of memory, and to present their own work to a uniquely qualified and supportive international peer group.

  Initiation in network analysis

  Cette école s’adresse à toute personne engagée dans une démarche de recherche et souhaitant être formée à l’analyse de réseaux, quelle que soit sa discipline et son statut (étudiant·e, doctorant·e, ingénieur·e, chercheur·se ou enseignant·e-chercheur·se). À l'issue de la formation, les participant·e·s connaîtront : le vocabulaire de l'analyse de réseaux dans les différentes disciplines (notamment sociologie, géographie, physique) ; les principes de collecte de données de réseaux propres aux différents types d'enquête (notamment enquête par entretien, sur sources écrites, à partir du web) ; les étapes à suivre et précautions à respecter pour passer des données brutes à l'analyse de réseau proprement dite ; les notions élémentaires de sémiologie graphique pour une visualisation efficace ; les principales mesures utilisées ; les différents outils disponibles pour aller plus loin·

  Summer School - History

  The "Face" of First World War Battlefields and Battles

  The centenary in 2016 of the two iconic battles of the First World War – Verdun and the Somme – leads us to reconsider battles and battlefields in the historiography of the First World War. Since John Keegan’s pioneering Face of Battle (1976), generations of historians have expanded our understanding of the experience of combat, as well as our knowledge of the literary and artistic representations of the battlefield. The way we think about the legacy of battles in the memory of the First World War around the world, too, has changed. Our week in Verdun and Péronne will not only give us time to reflect on the current state of research on the battles of the First World War and discover the most recent advancements in battlefield archeology and environmental history of warfare, but also confront these readings with on-the-ground visits to the sites studied.

  The rights of minorities in the Atlantic from Antiquity to the present day

  Second STARACO summer university, at Casa de Velázquez, Madrid

  Le projet STARACO (STAtuts, « RAce » et COuleurs dans le monde atlantique de l’Antiquité à nos jours), financé par la Région Pays de la Loire, propose un soutien à la participation de doctorants et post-doctorants (Europe, Afrique, Amériques) à l’Université d’été qui se déroulera à Madrid du 23 au 27 juin 2014. Pendant des siècles, les minorités ont été définies par un statut juridique qui précisait leur place dans la société par rapport aux groupes majoritaires. Le cas le plus connu est celui de l’esclavage, proche de la mort civile, assimilant les individus à des choses ; on sait néanmoins que l’esclave pouvait jouir, le cas échéant, d’une capacité juridique en vertu de la nature juridictionnelle (et donc jurisprudentielle) du droit ancien. Les minorités libres, qu’elles soient religieuses, « raciales » ou ethniques, étaient également définies par des droits particuliers qui précisaient les incapacités dont elles étaient frappées, et les privilèges éventuels qui les protégeaient en tant que mineurs juridiques. Il s’agit de suivre la mise en place d’un droit destiné à définir le statut, les obligations et les incapacités des minorités en éclairant l’origine de ces systèmes normatifs et leur évolution dans le temps.
