  Broadcasting health and disease

  Bodies, markets and television, 1950s-1980s

  The three-day conference aims to investigate how television programmes in their multiplicity approached issues like medical progress and its limits, healthy behaviour or new forms of exercise by adapting them to TV formats and programming...The conference seeks to analyse how television and its evolving formats expressed and staged bodies, health and fitness from local, regional, national and international perspectives. How spectators were invited not only to be TV consuming audiences, but how shows and TV set-ups integrated and sometimes pretended to transform the viewer into a participant of the show. TV programmes spread the conviction that subjects had the ability to shape their own body.

  Appel à contribution - n°21 du Magazine de la communication de crise et sensible, décembre 2012. La télévision s’est emparée depuis longtemps des crises. Désormais omniprésentes sur nos écrans, les crises investissent les différents formats et genres : de l’information, aux reportages en passant par les séries TV, et leurs représentations évoluent en même temps que les formats, les programmes ou les usages des spectateurs. Et quand bien même elles ne constituent pas le sujet principal d’une émission, elle vient se tisser en toile de fond. Partout et nulle part à la fois, les crises distinguent ouvertement les victimes des vilains, ses figures emblématiques, dans une représentation manichéenne de la société actuelle.
