Echi dell'antico nell'architettura del primo Novecento
Il Dipartimento di Storia, Disegno e Restauro dell'architettura (DSDRA) della Sapienza, Università di Roma, bandisce una call for papers per selezionare i contributi del convegno internazionale “Forme dell’abitare a Roma. Echi dell’antico nell’architettura del primo Novecento”, che si terrà il 11 e 12 Novembre 2021 a Roma. Il convegno intende focalizzare l’attenzione sul tema dell'architettura residenziale a Roma mettendo in relazione gli studi sulle tipologie e sul linguaggio architettonico dell'antichità con le esperienze dei primi decenni del Novecento, realizzate contestualmente allo sviluppo abitativo della Capitale.

Tourism and outdoor sport territories in transition
Using geographical approaches, the aim of this thematic issue of Géocarrefour is to analyse how different types of tourist destinations react faced with the changes outlined above and how new sustainable and hybrid models of development are set in motion and how they function. These models represent the culmination of the process of tourism transition as identified here. They are characterised by their mix of activities, by new interactions between social groups, (resident or tourist populations) and by new territorial forms. The impacts of these adaptations will also be discussed and analysed.

Italy and Yugoslavia in the Interwar Period
Monographic issue of “Qualestoria. Rivista di storia contemporanea”
The signing of the Treaty of Rapallo in 1920 made it possible to find a solution to the Italian-Yugoslav dispute over the north-eastern Adriatic border, a solution that would last substantially until the Italian invasion of the neighbouring kingdom in World War 2. Relations between Italy and Yugoslavia, particularly since the end of the 1920s, with the beginning of the more decidedly revisionist phase of fascist foreign policy regarding the structures of the Danubian-Balkan area, were never easy. However, the signing of the Treaty of Rapallo represented an undoubtedly important moment, which greatly contributed to restore a climate of collaboration between the two countries, heavily jeopardized by border nationalism and by the D’Annunzio’s “impresa di Fiume”, interrupted precisely by the Treaty of Rapallo.

Intersections. New perspectives for public humanities
HFC-INT 2020
The international network Humanities for Change, in accordance with the interdisciplinary spirit and the contaminatory approach that characterize its activities, intends to organize a day of study on the theme of public humanities. The meeting aims to stimulate some reflections coming from different fields of knowledge and to encourage the dialogue between researchers on the possibilities of the humanities to escape from academic circles. In this sense, the main object of study is the analysis of methodologies and tools related to knowledge dissemination practices for historical, artistic and philological-literary disciplines. Particular attention will also be given to new professional figures connected to the degree courses of the humanities faculties (such as the 'public historian') and to the interactions of these professional figures with the new media of communication and mass dissemination.

“Marine Feet and Vesuvian Eyes”: The Volcanic Aesthetics of Maria Orsini Natale

This volume intends to fill a gap in the critical reception of a remarkable Southern Italian woman writer. A journalist, a poet and a writer, Maria Orsini Natale (1928-2010) lived and worked at the foot of Vesuvius, and began writing at age 69, receiving several literary recognitions. Her novel, initially written as Ottocento Vesuviano, then entitled Francesca and Nunziata, and published for the first time in 1995, was also made into a 2001 film directed by Lina Wertmüller, starring Sophia Loren and Giancarlo Giannini. The book earned her a semifinalist’s place in the Strega Prize, the most prestigious Italian literary award, and features a family from Amalfi, dedicated for generations to the white art of pasta making. More than fiction, it illustrates what in Neapolitan is called a ‘cunto’, part historical account and part allegorical tale, derived from a reservoir of collective as well as personal memories.

Ce colloque envisage de donner, cinquante ans après les événements, une lecture historique de ce qu'on pourrait appeler le « secondo biennio rosso italiano » (1968-1969) et d’analyser les changements profonds, aux niveaux théorique, philosophique, politique, économique et juridique, survenus grâce aux luttes de l’époque pour améliorer les conditions de vie et de travail des ouvriers. On envisagera également la question de l'« héritage » de cette époque. Que reste-t-il aujourd'hui des luttes, des revendications, desformes d'organisation qu'il a vu naître ou s'affirmer ?

De Gruyter and the team of the Art Market Dictionary (AMD) are currently looking for authors interested in contributing to their encyclopedia project. The AMD is the first reference work providing encompassing information on commercial art galleries, dealers, auction houses, fairs and advisers in Europe, the USA and Canada in the 20th and 21st centuries. Due to appear in 2020, it will be published in print and as an online searchable database. It is edited by Johannes Nathan and supported by a number of specialized institutions such as the Getty Research Institute, the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte, or the Archives of American Art.

If telecollaboration is practiced at all levels of education, we would like to give it a broader dimension, as part of our colloquium, and to address it at the university level for the essential reason that the nature of event organized within this university, aspires to bring together colleagues around the world, around this theme, little known or practiced at the level of Algerian universities, while it has been the subject of experiments since over thirty years in Europe, America, Asia, and other countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

Contemporary song of Langue d'Oc and Italy. Roots, dialect and transnational dynamics
Ces dernières décennies ont vu une diversification notable de la scène musicale occitane. La chanson d'oc s'est renouvelée dans les échanges avec des musiciens issus d'autres sphères culturelles, souvent méditerranéennes, mais pas seulement. L'étude de ces dynamiques transnationales permet de comprendre comment la chanson dialectale pose des questions essentielles : rapport entre dimensions locales, nationales et mondialisation, enracinement et multiculturalisme, face à face entre cultures dominantes et civilisations minorées. Nous consacrerons une journée aux liens entre la chanson d'oc et l'Italie. Nous étudierons les échanges entre la chanson d'oc et la culture italienne conçue comme une mosaïque de cultures régionales, dans une dynamique à double sens, sans limite dans le temps (héritage culturel lointain, choix d'instruments ancrés dans une pratique musicale ancestrale, influences récentes).

Connecting Mediterranean and Atlantic History
2nd meeting of the Atlantic Italies Network
The Atlantic Italies Network – a developing network of scholars working on economic entanglements and related cultural phenomena that emerged between Italian-speaking territories and the Atlantic world from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century – aims at examining connections related to European states without colonies as well as their links to sub-Saharan Africa and the Americas and at contributing to current attempts to analyse early modern Italian territories in their global contexts. The second meeting of the network will particularly appreciate papers involving economic dimensions related to shipping, trade and economic interconnections, but we welcome all proposals contributing to our overall perspective.

Les objets dans la littérature italienne contemporaine
Depuis toujours partie intégrante des procès de représentations, les objets ont joué un rôle central dans la littérature du dernier siècle, d’un point de vue à la fois structurel et symbolique. L’objectualité, ou comme Calvino le disait au début des années soixante « la mer de l'objectivité », a fini par engloutir l’individualité, en dissolvant la conscience dans la prolifération de la présence matérielle. Le colloque vise à explorer le rôle des objets dans la littérature italienne de la deuxième moitié du XXe siècle, en arrivant jusqu’aux premières années du XXIe. L’étude des objets constitue un moyen privilégié pour analyser le potentiel expressif d’œuvres contemporaines ; elle représente une stratégie d’interprétation adaptée à dévoiler, à travers la « fonction objectale », la signification de nombreuses expériences narratives et poétiques.

Nous situant systématiquement dans une perspective pluridisciplinaire et plurilangue, nous explorerons comment et de quelle manière la question des frontières, d’un genre à l’autre, d’une aire géographique à une autre, d’un imaginaire culturel à un autre, est en mesure de potentialiser le propos.

The media, politics and revolution at the end of the 1860s. Echoes of the Battle of Mentana
La bataille de Mentana (3 novembre 1867) est un événement aujourd'hui largement oublié. Pourtant, sur le moment l'événement eut en Europe un retentissement considérable et souleva les passions : l'émotion fut grande chez la plupart des catholiques du fait du péril couru par le Saint-Siège, mais aussi chez tous ceux qui considéraient à l'inverse la cause de l'unité italienne avec sympathie. Ce colloque n'entend pas reprendre l'étude d'un tel événement en lui-même, mais plutôt en envisager une vision transnationale, à la suite d’une partie de l'historiographie récente du Risorgimento, qui s'est attachée à élargir l'approche de la construction nationale à l'échelle européenne.

The Italian consular services and the long Risorgimento

Si les différents services consulaires des États modernes et contemporains font désormais l’objet de nombreuses études, ceux qu’entretiennent les États italiens pré - et post - unitaires figurent encore parmi les moins connus, dans la mesure où ces États commanditaires sont, à tort, considérés comme des acteurs mineurs, voire marginaux en Méditerranée et en Europe. Le personnel consulaire au service des États dits italiens a toutefois cet avantage, pour l’historien, d’administrer des « nationaux » qui, à eux tous, constituent une diaspora présente dans toute la Méditerranée mais aussi dans des horizons plus lointains, et qui bien souvent occupent une place dynamique dans les sociétés qui les accueillent. La période considérée est celle du « Long Risorgimento », qui permet de dépasser les clivages traditionnels de l’histoire moderne et contemporaine de l’Italie. Elle ne préjuge pas d’une construction téléologique de la nation mais cherche au contraire à questionner cette destinée construite.

Between France and Italy - exchange and intellectual networks in the 19th century

La revue Transalpina, depuis sa fondation dans le cadre de l’équipe de recherche caennaise Identités, Représentations, Échanges (France-Italie), s’est régulièrement intéressée à la problématique de la réception de la littérature italienne en France. Dans les volumes précédents, l’attention des chercheurs s’était portée sur la traduction et la vie des productions italiennes dans le contexte français, sur l’histoire de la circulation des textes et des idées de la péninsule dans l’hexagone et sur différentes traces des auteurs italiens de l’autre côté des Alpes. Ces publications, auxquelles il faut ajouter d’autres ouvrages collectifs publiés à Caen et à Paris, ont porté souvent sur un intervalle chronologique large, pour souligner la permanence et les constantes dans les échanges intellectuels entre France et Italie.

The Organizing Committee encourages studies that also examine minor political parties.The Organizing Committee invites scholars of different disciplines interested in the topic topropose papers on Italian political parties’ attitudes, roles, points of view, and reactions in front of:- stragismo and subversive plots against Italian Republic; origin, development, and social consensus of left-wing armed struggle; the main political changes of the period (e.g., the crisis of center-left governments, the 1974 referendum, the 1975 and 1976 elections, the governments of national solidarity, the end of the Christian-democratic centrality); the dangers of right-wing terrorism; the emergency legislation; the exit strategies from terrorism.

À soixante-dix ans de la fin du second conflit mondial, nous pouvons toujours apprécier en Italie l’abondance d’une production artistique multiforme qui ne cesse d’évoquer, d’explorer et de réélaborer le souvenir de la dictature italienne. Des mémoires du fascisme nécessairement plurielles car, de l’immédiat après-guerre à nos jours, les artistes ont composé de diverses façons avec ce passé historique. Par conséquent, c’est à la lumière de cette évolution historique, historiographique et générationnelle que nous souhaitons interroger le réservoir d’images, de paroles et de gestes mobilisé par les artistes tout au long de la seconde moitié du XXe siècle. Comment ces mémoires, directes ou indirectes, se déclinent-elles au cinéma, dans les arts plastiques, au théâtre ? Quels usages et quels objectifs mémoriels visent-elles ?
