  Cadmo – Journal for Ancient History publishes original and peer-reviewed studies and findings, as well as relevant “state of the art” review essays, on Ancient History and the study of Ancient cultures. It aims to promote debate and discussion on a wide variety of subjects and welcomes contributions related to the Ancient Near-Eastern World (Egypt, Mesopotamia, Persia, Syro-Palestine area and Anatolia) and to the Classical World (Greece, Rome and the Ancient Mediterranean, including Late Antiquity).

  Meet the New Gods, Same as the Old Gods? Formulary, Ritual and Status in Hellenistic Ruler Cult

  Panel to be held at the Eighth Celtic Conference in Classics

  Despite recent and widespread interest in Greek hero and ruler cult, evaluating the processes that lead to the bestowal of cultic honours on Hellenistic sovereigns still remains a controversial matter. Political readings of such honours within the framework of contemporary international diplomacy and euergetic discourse have picked up on polarities widely discussed by previous bibliography, such as "dynastic vs. civic", "living vs. posthumous", etc. Yet the main focus is still limited to a "top-down" perspective, which leaves aside the fascinating dialectics between "private" and "public", or to perhaps phrase this more accurately, between "institutional" and "non-institutional" actors.

  Archéologie du paysage. L'Égypte et le monde méditerranéen

  Le colloque international de géoarchéologie du Caire sera consacré à l’Égypte, et de manière plus générale à l’espace méditerranéen. Dans l’optique de l’étude des relations homme / environnement, cette réunion scientifique s’intéresse aux dynamiques du Nil, axe majeur du paysage égyptien, et leurs conséquences sur les espaces périphériques (littoraux, plaines alluviales, déserts, wadis tributaires). La thématique est élargie à l’ensemble des milieux méditerranéens afin de proposer des exemples complémentaires à ceux du territoire égyptien.
