Le monde des arts s’offre au regard, peut-être beaucoup plus aujourd’hui que par le passé, comme une scène bigarrée où tous les possibles concourent à l’expression du monde, une expression subjective engageant un je, singulier ou pluriel, mais revendiquée comme telle, et quelle qu’elle soit : directe, donnée au figuré, sous enveloppe métaphorique, hybride, protéique ou … carrément inachevée. Le « non finito » dans l’art, s’il avait eu du temps, de Michel Ange, un aspect anecdotique, achève aujourd’hui de constituer une véritable mouvance tant dans les galeries d’art, les fabriques du livre, le septième art, les arts dramatiques avec des appellations souvent confondantes, devenues presque consacrées : esquisse, story board, rushes, work in process, mise en bouche, mise en espace, première (en parlant de théâtre), œuvre en devenir, etc...

"Iǧtihād" and "taqlīd" in Sunni and Shiite Islam
L'histoire de la pensée musulmane montre que la relation entre le taqlīd et l’iǧtihād est complexe. Le dossier de ce MIDÉO se propose d’approfondir les deux logiques à la lumière du patrimoine islamique. Les contributions pourront souligner les discours théologiques de légitimité ou de réfutation, mais aussi leur articulation. Au-delà de la rivalité entre les deux logiques, il conviendra de vérifier si l’on reste bien dans un continuum, et de vérifier que si les perspectives hégémoniques sont rivales, elles ne sont pas incompatibles.

Philosophical hermeneutics in the Islamicate context
This conference would like to engage with one specific context among all those which were and still are, as it were, “affected” by philosophical hermeneutics: the Islamicate context. The latter seems particularly relevant: on the one hand because it is intimately intertwined with the Western context; on the other hand because the Islamicate context retains a clear reference to religion that makes its entanglement with philosophical hermeneutics a burning challenge for all parties involved. The universality of the hermeneutic order should be put to the test of the Islamicate context within three different angles: the interpretative dimension, to address contemporary thinkers from the Islamicate world who have engaged with philosophical hermeneutics; the comparative dimension, in order to deal with possible transactions on the basis of common traits and divergences; and the creative dimension, to present attempts at using philosophical hermeneutics in order to develop new interpretations of canonical or traditional ensembles of texts.

The Balfour Declaration and its ramifications at the local and global levels could be tackled with reference to a myriad of theoretical frameworks such as the postcolonial/political theory, new historicism, ethnography, to name but a few.

Comparaisons, débat et prospection
Cette année coïncide avec le cinquième centenaire du mouvement religieux réformateur (octobre 1517-octobre 2017) initié en Europe par le théologien allemand Martin Luther et qui avait eu progressivement un important impact en dehors de son pays d’origine. Pourtant, quelques siècles après, ces reformes accompagnées par de multiples changements, restent d’une grande actualité. Le monde arabo-musulman a connu lui aussi d’importantes expériences initiées par des mouvements réformateurs et ce depuis la fin du 18ème siècle. Dans le sillage de ces efforts réformistes, sont nés des mouvements (groupes) politiques qui se considèrent comme étant un prolongement de cet héritage réformiste et qu’ils essaient, dans un effort de se constituer une légitimité, de le mobiliser et de se l’approprier.

Irrationality in the Middle East and Islām

If rationality denotes what complies with the mind, irrationality, by contrast, deals with all that, at first sight, can't be explained and controlled by the ʿaql. In other words, irrationality is a negatively defined notion marked by lack or loss (ʿadam-, ġayr-ou lā-ʿaql), distance (ibʿād)or deviation (inḥirāf) from the intellect, or even it is the result of reduced rationality (qillat al-ʿaql). An irrational behaviour is considered rather strange, abnormal, and sometimes contrary to sound norms and moral principals. Consequently, this is the case of liminal states or of more or less voluntary marginal conducts: the insane and the mental ill, the drunk or the intoxicated, the silly, the foolish, the madly in love with beloved or with God, etc.

Ce colloque organisé en mai 2017 par l'université de Nantes (laboratoire L'AMo) et l'université Paris 3 (UMR Thalim) est le premier événement international consacré à cette femme d'avant-garde hors du commun, qui a révolutionné l'art et rédigé des textes poétiques, critiques, politiques, romanesques ou théâtraux, pendant près d’un demi-siècle, de 1904 à 1951.

This international workshop will deal with the relations between Europe and the Arabian Peninsula in the Modern Era, from the beginnings of globalization until the most recent economic and strategic developments. In order to study both the evolution and the contents of such relations, two main topics will be given a more particular interest: Cultural and Scientific Relations in connection with the change of mutual understanding from the 19th to the 21th century; Evolution of Economic relations from the 19th to the 21th century.

Depuis l’époque des drogmans, traduction et géopolitique sont indissociables, mais les bouleversements qu’a connus ce début de siècle (guerre contre le terrorisme, guerre d’Irak, printemps arabe, guerre en Libye, guerre en Syrie, autres conflits aux enjeux internationaux, mais aussi la montée des extrêmes en Europe) ont considérablement affecté et modifié les conditions d’exercice des métiers langagiers en général et de celui des traducteurs en particulier. On assiste notamment à une politisation accrue des acteurs et à une instrumentalisation des produits de la traduction et de la communication multilingue à des fins politiques ou idéologiques, à la fois sur le terrain réel et virtuel. Dans ce contexte de conflictualité médiatisée et mondialisée, plusieurs problématiques méritent une attention particulière de la part des spécialistes en traduction et en communication multilingue. C’est pour tenter d'y répondre que nous lançons une série de rencontres scientifiques qui visent à initier une réflexion renouvelée et actualisée des problématiques de la traductologie en lien avec la géopolitique et le contexte international en général.
