Gender in the Middle Ages

Phenomena, practices and constructions in cultural history

Ce séminaire interdisciplinaire se propose de rassembler des jeunes chercheur·e·s et des chercheur·e.·s confirmé·e·s en histoire médiévale qui font du genre leur objet d’étude, ou qui l’utilisent comme un outil dans leurs recherches. Le but du séminaire est de se focaliser sur la réflexion identitaire et genrée au Moyen Âge. C’est pourquoi les approches d’histoire intellectuelle et culturelle ont été privilégiées. Néanmoins, les autres disciplines et les objets d’études mis en discussions seront également mobilisés.

Images and Liturgy in Portugal in the Middle Age

The seminar Images and Liturgy in Portugal in the Middle Age, organized by the CEAACP Multidisciplinary Group Study in Arts (University of Coimbra), in partnership with the Association of Portuguese Archaeologists / Carmo Archaeological Museum, is part of the set of project initiatives of Carla Varela Fernandes’ Postdoc (Sculptures of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries in collections of Portuguese museums. An imperative approach to a broader knowledge of the scientific reality). It aims the presentation and discussion of recent studies and reflections on works of Romanic and Gothic art existing in Portugal. It is intended to address the medieval images as part of the liturgical rituals and the buildings they were designed for. On the other hand, we’ll try to provide advances in the knowledge on the means as an iconographic innovation or aesthetic generated at a given location "moves" and appears in other geographies, serving similar purposes.

L'essentiel des chercheurs de Jacov travaillent sur le crédit et le petit crédit rural. La nouveauté est l'étude de la documentation hébraïque jusque là inconnue (projets Geniza européenne et Jacov). Notre but est de « désenclaver » l'histoire des juifs à travers l'histoire économique, d'éclairer la question du « crédit juif rural », véritable lieu commun. Cette année, les travaux portent sur l'étude des carnets personnels et comptabilités des marchands du XIVe siècle.
