Le corps humain est le lieu privilégié de l’action du médecin. Qu’il soit sain ou plus encore malade, le corps est pris dans le dilemme impossible entre valeur marchande et valeur inestimable. Le coût de notre médecine accentue le risque de faire passer le souci de soi avant le souci de l’autre. À parler de « valeurs », ne risque-t-on pas de suggérer que la vie de l’homme actif, jeune et performant « vaudrait » plus que celle de celui qui est malade, âgé ou handicapé ? La question des « valeurs » est une question dangereuse, car la marchandisation n’est jamais loin, d’autant plus qu’aujourd’hui le corps humain tend à être compris comme un capital. Ne serait-il pas mieux que le corps reste « hors valeur » ? Car si la médecine a un coût, le corps, lui, n’a pas de prix puisque son sort est indissolublement lié à celui de la personne.

Paradigms, models, scenarios and practices in terms of strong sustainability
While the notion of sustainability continues to be associated with the Brundtland Report (1987) and the concept of sustainable development, a community of sustainability researchers and practitioners increasingly seeks to emancipate the concept to be consistent with the knowledge and aspirations of the moment. The enthusiasm and expectations for more sustainability go beyond mere environmental issues. They touch on crucial social issues as well. The symposium papers intends to question the paradigms, models, scenarios and practices that embody sustainability. One may wonder what meaning should be given to the very idea of sustainability and the representations it conveys.

This colloquium will bring together leading and emerging scholars to discuss, share, and analyze what similarities and differences there are between their respective humanities research projects, as conducted in the field, and to experiment with what new field practices might emerge from the humanities. How are field practices in the environmental humanities methodologically different from those in cultural anthropology, geography, or sociology? How might field research in philosophy reshape traditionally text-based disciplinary boundaries?

Ces expériences nouvelles inscrites dans un nouvel idéal prométhéen, soulèvent des questions inédites : comment conjuguer la technique dans une interaction qui ne laisserait pas de côté ce que l’on pourrait considérer comme des aspects fondateurs de l’humain ? Dans cette offre actuelle de la médecine, en complaisance avec la techno-science, qu’en est-il des destins pulsionnels du sujet ? Serions-nous en train d’assister à la création de nouvelles formes d’habiter son corps ? Quels sont les configurations et enjeux psychiques du « faire corps » avec la prothèse ?

Why living matter is worth its conceptual and synthetic challenge?
The emergence of life on Earth has long been a major field of questioning for humans. Indeed living matter has always appeared highly singular against the background of “inert” matter so as (i) to interrogate its emergence and (ii) to attempt to convey its original features to inanimate objects. In the course of the XXth century, both latter perspectives have started to be interrogated at the cellular level with a continuously increasing content of information about the molecular components of living cells as well as about their interactions and reactivity. Two different perspectives have been adopted, focusing either on the formation of cell components, or on the onset of cell dynamic organization.

This workshop will be devoted to the relations that currently link cybernetics to the life sciences. There is ample evidence of the existence of these links in the historiographical literature, from the inception of cybernetics in Northern America (Heims) as well as in Europe (Pickering). It is not our purpose to dwell on this here, but only to remember that several doctors in medicine and biologists participated in the first meetings of the cyberneticians funded between 1943 and 1951 by the Macy Foundation, a foundation whose work was mainly concerned with the health sciences...

Le thème central du colloque est l'internet, et les reconfigurations des disciplines universitaires depuis son essor : en termes de pratiques (outils, méthodes, données , savoir-faire, etc.), de problématiques (nouvelles, réactualisées, ou infléchies du fait de l'internet) et d'équilibres (recomposition des frontières entre disciplines, émergence de disciplines mixtes). Le propos n'est pas de raisonner en termes de révolution, mais d'articuler les changements présents avec le passé lointain ou récent, en explorant la notion d'instrument : de techniques et de méthodes intellectuelles.
