Populismes arabes et européens : approches comparées
troisième colloque annuel du Centre arabe de recherches et d’études politiques de Paris (CAREP)
Alors qu’en Occident, les populismes se fondent sur le rejet des partis traditionnels, du parlementarisme, des multinationales, du libre-échange, du politiquement correct et de l’islam présenté comme menace identitaire, dans le monde arabe, c’est à l’inverse, un populisme d’État ancré dans un discours patriotique de légitimation des institutions qui permet d’assimiler toute critique à un acte de haute trahison. À cela s’ajoute l’utilisation de la religion, aussi bien par les régimes que par les oppositions, comme outil de légitimation et de dénigrement des adversaires. Plutôt que de chercher à analyser les phénomènes populistes au prisme d’un même moule, il s’agira, à travers l’étude des cas européens et arabes, de questionner la diversité du phénomène.

Hong Kong: protests, politics and identity
What factors are at the origin of these protest movements? What will be the impact in the formation of a new Hong Kong identity? What can be expected from the political evolution in Hong Kong and the relations between the city and the continent and the outside world? This symposium, organized by Professor Lun Zhang, attempts to clarify these issues. Several important Hong Kong academics and intellectuals, both actors and privileged observers of these protests and the political and cultural evolution of these last few decades to Hong Kong will be present to show their analysis. They will also dialogue with French Hong Kong specialists.

The Writ of Dynasties and Nation-States in the Middle East and South Asia
Max Weber famously argued that states lay claim to the monopoly of the legitimate use of violence over certain circumscribed territories. However, historical and anthropological research has challenged his ideal-typical vision by showing how the idea of the unitary state is a fiction that can only be produced through the action of interrelated but partly autonomous agents. States, and the various institutions that constitute them, face the strategic task of identifying and domesticating the social networks that are necessary for them to secure control over particular territories and their populations. Local strongmen and notables can in turn use their own local influence in order to gain recognition from higher-level, more powerful, state institutions. In this international conference, scholars from a variety of disciplines will explore the ways in which dynastic power and/or the rule of the state is asserted, negotiated and contested across both the Middle East and South Asia.

The constitutionalisation of law in China and France

La comparaison de cultures juridiques aussi différentes que celles de la Chine et de la France semble un pari impossible si le terme « constitution » est compris dans une vision immobile du droit, comme dispositif fondateur qui organise les pouvoirs et énonce les valeurs, En revanche, une vision évolutive, rétrospective et prospective, des processus de « constitutionnalisation » pourrait faciliter la compréhension réciproque, rendue désormais nécessaire par la mondialisation juridique en cours. À l’occasion du cinquantième anniversaire du rétablissement des relations diplomatiques France-Chine, l’Institut Adamas et le Centre culturel de Goutelas, en collaboration avec l’ACCR, se proposent d’illustrer cette démarche au cours d’une rencontre franco-chinoise dont les travaux se dérouleront au château de Goutelas, selon le programme suivant.

Contestations, Emotions! Social and artistic expressions in the Public Space
A theoretical and practical perspective from the ground
During the recent movements of contestation in Mediterranean countries different kind of aesthetic gestures using the streets and the public spaces as places for a public manifestation of some social, ordinary -or radical- critic. They proceed from an ordinary culture that is transformed, adapted then spread out upon a new form in artistic tracks taking place in public spaces. These actions have both a critical and aesthetic dimension. They rely on the environment, mobilize cognitive, memorial and cultural or ordinary patterns. They also mobilize a common culture . This is the case of rap, new uses of old music, villages against occupation, graphic art in Palestine, in Egypt or in Syria. The conference will present and analyse some forms of experimentations, and public and critical commitments. What kind of “public spaces” is in use nowadays? How it configures new spaces of critic and public space and a new environment ? The panel will adopt a trans-disciplinary perspective by bringing together social scientists and practicers or activists.

En suivant trois axes principaux – littérature, philosophie politique, réception de Rousseau au Japon et en Chine –, le colloque Rousseau de Tokyo se propose, avec la participation desspécialistes de cet écrivain, venus de France et de Suisse, de mettre en oeuvre un espace commun de débat. Il veut, sous le titre « Rousseau, le moderne ? Retour de Rousseau, retour à Rousseau », examiner de divers points de vue la validité des messages de Rousseau pour l’avenir de la société, de la culture et de l’humanité. -

Heresies. The making of religious identities
Le colloque « Hérésies. Une construction d’identités religieuses » a pour ambition d’interroger la notion d’hérésie, d’étudier les phénomènes historiques traditionnellement appelés hérésies et d’examiner leur rôle dans la construction d’identités religieuses ou confessionnelles. Conformément aux traditions du CIERL, il traitera des trois monothéismes : judaïsme, christianisme, islam. Il s’articule sur quatre axes : approches méthodologiques ; discours hérésiographique ; canonicité ; hérésie et formes politiques.
