  Ville et religion dans l'Europe moderne et contemporaine

  Constatant pour la ville moderne comme pour la ville contemporaine que le religieux peut apparaître comme une expression du fait urbain, l’originalité de la démarche ne consiste pas ici à considérer la ville comme le simple théâtre d’une histoire religieuse mais plutôt d’observer et de comprendre comment le fait religieux participe à l’écriture d’une histoire urbaine. Ainsi, l’approche suggérée par les organisateurs et le comité scientifique sera de partir d’une réflexion problématique en termes d’histoire urbaine pour envisager les différentes catégories qui ont permis au religieux de contribuer à la structuration de la cité.

  Social Space and Religious Culture (1300-1800)

  Workshop II of the Academic Network ‘Social Sites – Öffentliche Räume – Lieux d’échanges’

  The workshop intends to investigate the relationship between religious culture and space over the period of 1300-1800. Apart from the question of the extent to which religious culture relies on a clearly defined space, it will focus on the development of church space as a characteristic of Christianity as well as on its design, use, representation and perception to gain insights into changes and continuities in the long-term relationship between space and religion.
