  Standardizing Psychoactive Drugs And Drug Uses. 1900-1970

  Psychoactive drugs and drug treatments, within psychiatry, as well as those that have entered the public domain, have begun increasingly to attract the interest of historical researchers. An aspect of this research is the search for generalized concepts that can be used to understand the dynamics of the life-cycles of drugs. One such concept, and the focus of a new research program, sponsored by the European Science Foundation, is that of 'standardization'.

  Avec son ouvrage pionnier, L'Interprétation des Rêves, publié en 1900, Sigmund Freud appartient bien au XXème siècle. Ses théories controversées ont influencé non seulement les patients souffrants de troubles nerveux mais aussi les sciences humaines et sociales jusqu'à la culture populaire.Ce colloque entend montrer la place de Freud dans le monde intellectuel depuis l'orée du XXème siècle : Conserve-t- il une position privilégiée ? Comment les lecteurs anglo-américains et français se sont-ils appropriés ses textes ?
