  L’inquiétante étrangeté des monstres

  Qu’est-ce qu’un monstre ? Cette réalité fuyante, équivoque, trouble souvent liée à un sentiment d’inquiétante étrangeté fonctionne d’une manière particulière en littérature. Quelles formes prend-elle ? L’écrivain revendique-t-il explicitement une poétique du monstrueux ? Inscrit-il ses monstres dans une théorie du beau ? Celle-ci se conçoit-elle comme un système de valeurs ? Par rapport à une norme ?A quel niveau de conscience l’écrivain travaille-t-il ? Est-il hanté par ses propres chimères ? Que nous révèlent ses explorations du dedans ? L’œuvre est-elle là pour dompter ou apprivoiser ses monstres ou pour les libérer ? Telles sont les questions que nous souhaitons placer au centre de cette journée d’étude.

  Pilgrimage Architecture and Pictorial Concepts in a New Perspective

  This conference is related to our ongoing research project "The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela – Form, Function, Program". Initial results revealed the existence of a Romanesque west-building, including a first west portal, which was entirely rebuiltunder Master Mateo between 1168 and 1188 and replaced by the well-known Pórtico de la Gloria. These and other new findings will be presented at the conference, wherethey will be brought into conversation with current research from the US, Spain, Switzerland, Germany and France on pilgrimage architecture and sculpture.
