We seek to understand how a set of digital methodologies has influenced historical research, to discuss its advantages and disadvantages, as well as to identify innovative ways of linking the future of the digital world to the study of the past. International Conference
The International Conference São Tomé and Príncipe from an interdisciplinary, diachronic and synchronic perspective is the result of a partnership between researchers at the Centre of African Studies (CEA) at ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL) and the Global Development Programme at the Tropical Research Institute (IICT) in Lisbon. As part of on-going research projects, the conference aims to present and share studies and project results from research conducted on São Tomé and Príncipe in various areas of scientific knowledge. -

The many: history, theory and politics
This conference aims to gather a set of contributions to the question of the collective subject of politics. The conference welcomes papers that present theoretical contributions to the debate as well as case studies gathered from any geographical space and from all historical periods. It is mainly – but in no way exclusively – directed at researchers from different disciplinary areas working on political thought and social movements. The working language of the conference is English. Those interested in presenting a paper at the conference should submit an abstract no longer than 300 words before the 31st of December 2011. -

SICYUrb (Second International Conference of Young Urban Researchers), Lisbon (Portugal), 11-14 October 2011. Call for Papers (14 March 2011 - 15 May 2011). Second International Conference of Young Urban Researchers (SICYUrb) aims to gather recent researches on urban contexts from many different areas of social sciences, to discuss current theoretical and methodological issues and to promote interdisciplinary and international networking. It is intended that the meeting should be boosted by young researchers who work in urban studies and develop research in cities - especially those who are studying in post-graduate programs but also those carrying out technical and intervention activities. -
