Presentation: With this initiative we intend to discuss the implications of using digital technologies in the production and dissemination of knowledge in History. DHLU Symposium 2012
The Jean Monnet Chair in History of European Integration and its Research Programme « Digital Humanities Luxembourg » — DIHULUX (research unit Identités-Politiques-Sociétés-Espaces [IPSE]), together with the Centre Virtuel de la Connaissance sur l’Europe (CVCE), are pleased to launch the call for papers for the DHLU Symposium 2012. This Symposium follows the DHLU Symposium 2009, also organised in Luxembourg by these two institutions on the topic of « Contemporary history in the digital age ». This second edition aims to examine the use of websites as sources for research in the humanities and social sciences, especially encouraging an analysis of this heuristic question in the field of European integration studies. The Symposium will address both methodological aspects and the theoretical and institutional implications of the public dissemination of research results, focusing on digitised and online published sources as well as on websites themselves, which will be analysed as born digital sources. The potential of this innovative research approach will also be explored and emphasised. -

LREC 2012
Since the first LREC held in Granada in 1998, LREC has become the major event on Language Resources (LRs) and Evaluation for Language Technologies (LT). The aim of LREC is to provide an overview of the state-of-the-art, explore new R&D directions and emerging trends, exchange information regarding LRs and their applications, evaluation methodologies and tools, ongoing and planned activities, industrial uses and needs, requirements coming from the e-society, both with respect to policy issues and to technological and organisational ones. -

Ce format numérique, comme le développement du web, a facilité grandement la diffusion des ressources documentaires iconographiques, sonores et/ou audiovisuelles dans le monde de la recherche et, au-delà, auprès de citoyens de plus en plus curieux et intéressés par les documents produits par les scientifiques. L'essor du libre-accès qui se développe aujourd'hui incite par ailleurs à ce que des données réputées « publiques » soient réellement rendues publiques. Les institutions doivent savoir répondre aux questions de respect des droits des auteurs et des personnes interrogées ou représentées que posent leurs projets de mise à disposition de ressources en libre accès tandis que les chercheurs, qui publient désormais régulièrement en ligne, se trouvent confrontés à des séries de questions juridiques et éthiques auxquelles ils ne savent pas toujours répondre. -

Supporting the Digital Humanities – SDH 2011
Following the first successful SDH conference in Vienna in 2010, the CLARIN and DARIAH initiatives have decided to jointly organise the second SDH conference in Copenhagen, Denmark in November 2011. This year's conference will focus on two major themes: 1. Sound and movement – music, spoken word, dance and theatre & 2.Text and things – text, and the relationship between text and material artefacts, such as manuscript, stone or other carriers of text.

Social networking is the way the grey literature community remains connected in the 21st century. It encompasses a range of social media and communication tools that enable subject based communities to create, review, process, publish, and make grey literature openly accessible to public domain. Social networking is not new to grey literature, in fact it is inherent to this field of information. What’s new however are the technologies available to global grey literature communities in developing, monitoring, and sustaining valued information resources and services. In this context, social networking becomes a mechanism both used and applied by grey literature communities in the processes of knowledge generation and ensuing wealth creation. -
