Grâce au mécénat de la Terra Foundation for American Art, l’Institut national d’histoire de l’art (INHA) a le plaisir de reconduire pour deux ans (2013-2015) le programme d’enseignement et de recherche sur l’histoire de l’art américain et des échanges artistiques transatlantiques, qui existe depuis 2009 sous forme de bourses distribuées un post-doctorant(e) et à deux professeur(e)s invité(e)s de langue anglaise. -
French History is seeking contributions, in French and English, for a special issue on "Animals in French History," edited by Christopher Pearson (Liverpool) and Peter Sahlins (UC Berkeley). Proposals for articles should bring together theory and original empirical research that draws on new ways of studying animals and animal-human relations in France since the Renaissance.

Dealer, collector, critic, publisher…: The « animateur d’art » and his multiples roles
Pluridisciplinary research of these disregarded cultural mediators of the 19th and 20th centuries
The first goal of our symposium is to enlighten the role of the animateur d’art in the development of the arts. We hope that this scientific gathering would help us specify this first formula of the cultural actor: “The animateur d’art is an amateur who actively participates in the defense of the arts and in the stimulation of the artistic creation in a certain period. He puts his numerous networks to work in order to spread ideologies and aesthetics through the cultural environment and the society. He is a key figure positioning himself as a mediator between the different art worlds – the plastic arts as well as between the different agents of the cultural environment. His work consists in building bridges between the artists and his own cultural environment in order to ease the reception of the works and to promote a peculiar aesthetics”. -

Beyond linguistic competence in a globalised world: action, interaction and intercultural mediation
Au croisement du linguistique et de l’éducatif, du social et du politique, le Séminaire doctoral international réunit chaque année des enseignants-chercheurs et de jeunes chercheurs concernés par l’appropriation et la transmission des langues et des cultures. Conçu comme un outil de formation à la recherche, à l’initiative du monde académique, au bénéfice des professionnels impliqués dans la diffusion et l’enseignement des langues, fondé sur l’échange scientifique entre jeunes chercheurs, universitaires et experts confirmés, en présentiel, par un dispositif de visio-conférence ou par une plate-forme d’échange, le Séminaire propose d’engager la réflexion scientifique internationalisée par un programme incitatif comportant des conférences plénières de chercheurs de premier plan issus de champs disciplinaires complémentaires et des ateliers consacrés à la présentation par les jeunes chercheurs de leurs travaux. Les langues de travail sont le français et l’anglais.

Volume ! la revue de recherche pluridisciplinaire à comité de lecture dédiée à l’analyse des musiques populaires lance un nouvel appel à contributions pour un numéro consacré à la nostalgie dans les musiques populaires, dans une variété de contextes nationaux, internationaux et transnationaux. Ce numéro, dirigé par Hugh Dauncey (Newcastle University) et Christopher Tinker (Heriot-Watt University) explorera les façons dont la nostalgie liée aux musiques populaires est produite, représentée, médiatisée et consommée. -

Vernacular Bible and Religious Reforms
International Colloquium
Dans les développements religieux en Europe du nord-ouest, la Bible était souvent instrumentalisée, comme étalon, source de conflit ou tout simplement pour son intérêt propre. Ce fut le cas avec la Devotio Moderna, l’humanisme biblique, la Réformation et la Contre-Réforme catholique. La mise à disposition des Écritures Saintes en langue vernaculaire représente le trait d’union entre ces mouvements de réforme dans leurs rapports respectifs avec la Bible. Bien que la Bible ait influencé de plus en plus en profondeur tous les aspects de la culture et de la société en Europe du nord-ouest, son étude scientifique a mené à la désacralisation du livre dès les dernières décennies du seizième siècle, et s’est ensuite inscrite en Europe dans les tendances de sécularisation. Au moyen des pamphlets notamment, la discussion s’est disséminée sur une plus grande échelle. L'objet de ce colloque est de dégager la signification et l’influence mutuelle des traductions de la Bible en langue vernaculaire et des réformes religieuses. -

L'histoire de l'art est-elle suffisamment globale pour relever le défi du transnational, sans négliger pour autant les processus de territorialisation et de nationalismes culturels ? L'approche spatiale et cartographique peut-elle la renouveler ? Autour d'Artlas (artlas.ens.fr), le colloque de Purdue (West Lafayette, USA, 27-29 septembre 2012) invite les chercheurs à réfléchir aux stratégies possibles pour étudier les processus de circulation et de globalisation, sans laisser de côté les questions d'ethnicité ou de nationalité, échappant ainsi autant aux limites de la simple narration qu'à celles d'un globalisme aveugle. -

Workshop of the inaugural conference of the Association of Critical Heritage Studies
This workshop of the inaugural conference of the Association of Critical Heritage Studies (Gothenburg, 5 June 2012) focuses on the relationships between religion and heritage in the Mediterranean. It aims to study the entwining of these two phenomena and reveal the eventual particularities of religious heritage-making, as well as to discuss the conceptions of heritage embedded in the monotheistic religions, and re-examine the cultural matrix that religion and heritage share, redefine or negotiate through memory practices.
