Parliament(s) and sovereign courts in France and Europe under the Ancien Régime (2012-2013)

This seminar, devoted to the European space and tothe "Old Regime" in a broad sense, is designed in the long term. Ithas set itself the goal of presenting the current research on the theme of the"Parliament" expanded, in a strongly interdisciplinary perspective,in all the major issues which are closely linked: centralization of government,sovereignty, "absolutism" and its reconsideration, interplay ofrelationships between spiritual and temporal powers in the evolution of the politicalconceptions and institutions. It will also take into account the law in all itsbreadth, from the legal writing up to the archives policy, through judicialpractice and reflections on magistracy. It is also interested as well in theprocedure as in more abstract designs of the political community.

Appel à contributions pour un ouvrage collectif qui porte sur « Dénoncer le crime du Moyen Âge au XIXe siècle », autour de trois axes : les modalités de la dénonciation et ses effets sur l’évolution de la procédure criminelle ; s’approprier la dénonciation / refuser de dénoncer ; la dénonciation et la construction de la victime. -

Institutions: from the genesis of the notion of current uses in the history of law
Le CERAL et l’UMR 8103 de Droit Comparé de Paris-1 organisent une journée d’étude le mercredi 4 avril 2012 sur le campus de Villetaneuse, avec pour titre : « Les institutions : de la genèse de la notion aux usages actuels en histoire du droit ». Cette rencontre doit permettre l’étude interdisciplinaire d’un objet historiographique transversal : la notion d’institutions, depuis le moment où elle se dote de ses contours actuels, jusqu’à l’emploi qui en est aujourd’hui fait par les historiens des facultés de droit. -
The Apostolic See and the World. Challenges and risks facing global history
The Max-Planck Institute for European Legal History invites scholars to participate in the debate concerning "The Apostolic See and the World. Challenges and risks facing global history". The debate will be published in the next issue of the Institute’s journal – Rechtsgeschicht –, set for release at the end of this year.
