Expérience interdisciplinaire inédite, le présent colloque réunira médecins, épidémiologistes et historiens pour repenser les fondements des connaissances médicales actuelles en matière de « risques silice », afin de discuter de l'origine inconnue de toute une série de maladies systémiques.

  The Square : a Central Object for Thought

  The square of opposition is a very famous theme coming from Aristotelian logic dealing with the notions of opposition, negation, quantification and proposition. It has been continuously studied by people interested in logic, philosophy and Aristotle during two thousand years. Even Frege, one of the main founders of modern mathematical logic, used it. This congress is an interdisciplinary event gathering logicians, philosophers, mathematicians, semioticians, artists, cognitivists, and computer scientists.

  Current Trends, Challenges and Crises

  Fala-se cotidianamente de crise do ensino jurídico, a reboque da permanente crise das próprias instituições do Sistema de Justiça. Essa crise da educação também não é de hoje: Em “A Educação Jurídica e a crise brasileira”, texto extraído da aula inaugural dos cursos da Faculdade Nacional de Direito proferida em 1955, San Tiago Dantas expôs a decadência de um modelo alimentado pelas classes dirigentes, desconectado das necessidades básicas da sociedade. Dizia San Tiago Dantas: “Quem percorre os programas de ensino das nossas escolas, e sobretudo quem ouve as aulas que nelas se proferem, sob a forma elegante e indiferente da aula-douta coimbrã, vê que o objetivo atual do ensino jurídico é proporcionar aos estudantes o conhecimento descritivo e sistemático de instituições e normas jurídicas. Poderíamos dizer que o curso jurídico é, sem exagero, um curso de institutos jurídicos, apresentados sob a forma expositiva de tratado teórico-prático”. Na mesma senda, Rui Barbosa, no início do século passado, denunciava o tradicional método de ensino jurídico como fator proibitivo do próprio processo de aprendizado.

  Identity and Paradox

  On the one hand, the concept of identity naturally enters the discussion concerning many types of paradox that are not, primarily, about identity itself. On the other hand, there are a number of paradoxes considered as paradoxes of identity in which identity is apparently the concept generating the paradox (e.g., the ship of Theseus paradox, Chrysippus's paradox, the paradox of change, the paradox of constitution). The goal of the workshop is to discuss philosophical, logical and linguistic aspects of paradoxes in which the notion of identity plays a role. More specifically, we wish to examine whether the so-called paradoxes of identity really are paradoxes of identity in the sense that their paradoxicality is primarily connected to the concept of identity; and we want to investigate the role of concepts of identity in connection with the formulation/solution of other types of paradoxes.
