Education, ethics and politics in contemporary times
Dans un moment où l’air du temps impose des ruptures (et pas encore une continuité) par rapport à l’ordre établi, la relation entre éthique, politique et éducation se donne à penser. Non pas comme « objet », mais comme interpellation vitale. La pensée française joue un rôle pivot en ce qui concerne les questions contemporaines d’intégration des différences culturelles (la philosophie de la différence) et de réflexion sur les enjeux politiques qui en découlent (l’idée d’une démocratie à venir).

L'UVSQ et l'UMR Printemps, en association avec divers laboratoires CNRS, organisent les 12 et 13 décembre prochains, deux journées d'études sur les restruturations des transports ferroviaires dans le monde. Ces deux journées ont aussi pour objectif de jeter les bases d'un réseau international de recherche International Railways Studies.

American cities in the 21st Century : linguistic, cultural and social representations
Amerika volume 9
Volume 9 in the Amerika series will have an interdisciplinary perspective: encompassing aesthetic representations (literature, cinema, art), urbanism, sociology, anthropology and linguistics. This plural approach will enable us to establish the basis of an analysis of the new “realities” of American cities in the 21st Century, whilst examining the paths followed by aesthetic and social representations of these new urban landscapes. The idea of devoting this volume of Amerika to the various representations of 20th century American cities emanated from the theme of the 19th Congress of the German Association of Hispanists which took place in Munster from 20-23 March 2013. The panel, comprising 20 specialists, was organized by Sabine Schlickers and Victoria Torres.

La revue História e Cultura, publication électronique des étudiants (master, doctorat) de la faculté d'histoire de l'université de São Paulo - UNESP (Franca), lance un appel à contributions pour le dossier thématique « Histoire et littérature au XIXe siècle ». Le dossier privilégie les travaux interdisciplinaires portant sur les rapports entre production littéraire et contexte historique au XIXe siècle. La thématique pourra être abordée selon des axes complémentaires, plus particulièrement, histoire littéraire ; histoire et élites intellectuelles ; histoire, pouvoir et culture lettrée ; littérature épique et histoire ; littérature et projets de construction de la nation ; identité nationale dans la littérature et moment historique ; nationalisme littéraire et histoire ; revues politiques.

Confused interfaces: norms, classifications and the primacy of language in questions
TansOceanik international seminar
La proposition de cette rencontre et d’essayer de questionner les normes essentialisantes – telle qu’exprimées dans les discriminations raciales -, les classifications – qui excluent certaines couches de la population – et le primat du langage – qui évacue la cognition des expériences sensibles, telle la culture des signes des sourds. Nous proposons de croiser des expériences existentielles à la frontière de trois oppositions classiques : masculin/féminin, humain/non humain, vivant/mort en invitant des spécialistes travaillant sur des terrainsde contextes culturels différents à discuter entre eux et avec des philosophes et des psychanalystes.

Connaissance et science coloniale
Le colloque international « Connaissance et science coloniale » est le résultat du partenariat entre le Centro de Filosofia das Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa et le Centro de História do Instituto de Investigação Científica Tropical, et vise à promouvoir un forum de réflexion et discussion sur la nature du rôle de la science en contexte colonial, ainsi que sa pertinence en une perspective postcoloniale. La rencontre souhaite joindre des chercheurs et des spécialistes, nationaux et internationaux, sur les sciences naturelles, sociales et humaines pour un débat autour de cette thématique qui est devenue plus visible lors de la dernière décennie.

Pratiques et poétiques du chapitre du XIXe au XXIe siècle
Bien qu'il soit un aspect évident de notre pratique de lecture quotidienne, le chapitre est un élément de poétique négligée par la critique, à l'exception de la thèse récente d'Ugo Dionne, La voie aux chapitres, consacrée aux modes de structuration romanesque dans l'Ancien Régime. Dionne y analyse comment le XIXe siècle voit une généralisation du chapitre, ce dernier devenant à la fois systématique et moins visible. Pourtant, le chapitre comme unité minimale du roman, comme scansion on élément structurel, sert de fil d'Ariane à l'écriture comme à la lecture. On voudrait ainsi esquisser une poétique du chapitre, en tenant ensemble les deux questions de la fabrique du texte et de sa réception, du chapitre utilisé comme moyen de production du sens et comme outil de lecture : telle est l'ambition de ce colloque.

Thinking rights in Latin America in the 20th century
This conference purports to think about the right-wing in twentieth-century Latin America. We shall seek to discover whether the current Latin American right-wing movements are merely the prolongation of XIXth century conservatism, or if a series of events might explain the emergence of new actors in the XXth century. This will enable us to enquire into which geographical scale - national or continental - is relevant when examining this concept. We expect papers from scholars in various social sciences, based on monographic and comparative historical examples. Our purpose is to historicize the concept and the object.

Antropológicas Journal
The journal Antropológicas is accepting proposals for publication in its next issue that will address the problem of ethnographic and anthropological methodology. Manuscripts should be submitted to the page http://revistas.rcaap.pt/antropologicas/login by the 28th of February of 2013. Antropológicas’ number 13th will address the problem of ethnographic and anthropological methodology, because since the academic statement of its field of knowledge, ethnographic practice and anthropological writing had many debates, both for the originality of the methodology and the scientific accuracy required by their professionals. Among social sciences, anthropology was the one where theoretical discussion about its rationale demanded a greater critical capacity, by placing into question its methodological grounds.

The meetings Europe in the world are the result of a partnership between the CEIS20, of the University of Coimbra, and the IHC of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Nova University of Lisbon (UNL). These annual meetings will generally take place in April, they will have a central theme and will incorporate a broad range of participants."For Peace!" (1849-1939) is the topic chosen for the 2013’s meeting, included in the centennial of the First World War Anniversay Program , organized in Portugal by IHC and coordinated internationally by the Imperial War Museum, London, from which the IHC is partner. -

Empenhando-nos em ter em particular consideração a cultura de fronteira, incluiremos uma nova secção votada a pessoas de ambos os lados da fronteira que se dedicam ou dedicaram a um ofício ou atividade tradicional. Contaremos a sua história de vida e a sua relação com a sua arte ou o seu trabalho. No novo número, também haverá um dossiê etnográfico com a exposição variada da visão pictórica que pessoas de ambos os lados da fronteira têm da sua terra, da sua região.

10th Middle Ages study day
The Brazilian Association of Medieval Studies (ABREM) will hold its Xth International Meeting of Medieval Studies: Ibero-american dialogues, from July 1st through 5th, at the Universidade de Brasília (UnB), 2013. One of the main goals is to improve the networking between medievalists dedicated to the study of the Iberian Middle Ages. This meeting serves as a hub for latin-american specialists and also improves the connection that several institutes and labs maintain with Portuguese and Spanish researchers. One of its other goals would be to set up interinstitutional and international web researches. Finally, this meeting’s main focus is the Ibero-American medievalism itself.
