  Charlie Chaplin's 100th anniversary

  To celebrate the 100^th anniversary of Charlie Chaplin’s creation of the “Little Man”, we are organizing an international symposium on Charlot the tramp and its avatars. Charlie Chaplin’s body of work will be at the core of this symposium. We seek to underline the universal dimension of his character and the modernity of this figure and study how it emerges in various forms in the literature, the cinema and the arts of the 20^th and 21^st centuries.

  Transgression: from emancipation to progression

  Le terme de transgression signifie, comme son nom l’indique en latin, « passer de l’autre côté », « traverser ». Attesté dès le XX^e siècle dans la langue française, il réfère au non-respect de règles et d’ordres. Incitant à passer « au-delà des frontières », il pose l’existence de normes préétablies, cette existence de normes faisant apparaître les transgressions. Celui qui transgresse est immanquablement un être subversif qui rejette la règle ou la norme elle-même.
