  Networks, Practices and Dynamics of Socialization in European diplomacy from 1919 to today

  This international colloquium of the network Richie will be held in Brussels (Royal Academy of Belgium), from 19 till 21 March 2015. It will concern the following question : “Networks, Practices and Dynamics of Socialization in European diplomacy from 1919 to today”. Multidisciplinary, he aims to be open to the historians, to the political analysts, to the anthropologists and to the sociologists. The main langage of the colloquium will be French, but the communications in English are also welcome.

  Towards the inversion of the autonomy project?

  The radical democracy of Cornelius Castoriadis and his contemporary challenges

  Pour le philosophe Cornélius Castoriadis, le projet d’autonomie est un des éléments constitutifs de la dynamique de la modernité occidentale. Cependant, cette dynamique n'a rien d'irréversible et peut se voir étouffée par d’autres significations à caractère hétéronome. La disparition de la démocratie athénienne et, avec elle, de son ontologie autonome, fournit un exemple dramatique de ce renversement toujours possible de la démocratie et du projet d'autonomie. Mais si Castoriadis (et à sa suite nombre de ses commentateurs) n’a eu de cesse d’élucider tant les enjeux que les processus d’émergence et les conditions d’une société autonome, il n’a par contre accordé qu'une très faible attention au mouvement inverse, aux voies par lesquelles une société ou un individu autonomes peuvent basculer dans l’hétéronomie, ce que nous qualifions de « processus d’hétéronomisation ». Au vu des risques contemporains qui planent sur le projet d’autonomie, ce sont ces « processus d’hétéronomisation » que, dans ce colloque, nous explorerons sous une double approche théorique et pratique.

  Denationalization and territory

  Ph.d. workshop with Saskia Sassen

  Professor Saskia Sassen will take part in a half-a-day international doctoral workshop, which will be the concluding act of a two-day long seminar on denationalisation and territory (7-8 May 2014). Such doctoral seminar aims at providing Ph.D students who work on issues related to globalisation a dynamic and informal space to present their work, receive inputs from discussants and participants and have a chance to discuss with one of the major sociologists in the field. The participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their research questions, to receive informed opinions and to meet other academics working on similar issues in different regional context.

  La septième édition des après-midi de recherche en science politique propose d’analyser le concept d’État selon trois axes : 1) La mise en question de l’État au XXIème siècle ; 2) L’étude des dynamiques étatiques ; 3) Les formes de gouvernement au-delà de l’État. Pour mener à bien l’organisation de cet événement, nous lançons un appel à contributions qui proposera une approche originale sur « L’État dans tous ses états ».
