  Schengen: people, borders and mobility

  In the era of globalization, which benefits the implementation of policies of both stimulus or repression for the movement of people, academics have been fostering discussion around topics and concepts related with migration, borders and mobility. This epistemological basis enables us to apprehend the complexity of the European area and invites us to examine the boundaries or lack of it that separate territories. The conference also seeks to analyze the changes in the concepts of border and border control; to understand how residents in the Schengen Area – “native” or immigrants – build their national and transnational identity; to assess the evolution of mobility within the Schengen Area, which in turn allows us to perceive the relations between regions, states and individuals and to explain the various impacts of the Schengen agreements in the territories, people and societies and their border experiences.

  Arquitectura ou Revolução

  A propósito da comemoração dos 40 anos do 25 de Abril de 1974, retoma-se a frase panfletária “Architecture ou Révolution”, proferida por Le Corbusier em Vers une Architecture (1923). Será este o suporte do Colóquio Internacional, que tem como objectivo estimular uma reflexão capaz de confrontar a dimensão ética do trabalho do arquitecto, com os desafios disciplinares da própria arquitectura.

  Abril e Lisboa

  No ano em que se comemoram os 40 anos da Revolução de Abril, o 3º Ciclo de Conferências LISBOA XXI sob o título “Abril e Lisboa”, inserido na unidade curricular “Lisboa: rupturas e continuidades”, leccionada e coordenada pela Professora Paula André no Mestrado Integrado em Arquitectura da Escola de Tecnologias e Arquitectura do ISCTE-IUL, tem como principal objectivo reflectir sobre as liberdades vivas e alertar para as liberdades ausentes. Para o realizar foram convidados especialistas das áreas da literatura e do jornalismo, da arquitectura e da antropologia. As apresentações serão realizadas por Armando Baptista-Bastos, Miguel  Baptista-Bastos e Ricardo Campos.
