  The Sudan, five years after the independence of South Sudan

  Which reconfigurations, transformations, and evolutions in the “North”?

  South Sudan officially gained independence on the 9^th July 2011. This was the outcome of the peace agreement signed in January 2005 and in accordance with the national referendum of January 2011. This historic event, which should have put an end on the historical conflict between the Northern and Southern regions and communities, constituted a real challenge in term of adaptation, resilience and innovation for the whole of the society. In this unprecedented context of the birth of a new national territory, and the remodelling of existing spatial and political configurations, South Sudan has logically been at the centre of attention – whether this be from political actors, researchers or humanitarian donors. However, the North has been profoundly affected by this rupture as well.

  L’exercice de l’autorité dans les mondes musulmans d’aujourd’hui

  Il existe de nombreuses façons d’appréhender la question de l’autorité. Celle-ci peut être définie comme une capacité de commandement ou de prescription exercée sur un individu ou un groupe social, qui induit l’acceptation et même l’obéissance. L’autorité serait donc un pouvoir qui n’aurait pas besoin de s’exercer pour exister, bien qu’en même temps, elle suscite des oppositions et requiert souvent la cœrcition ou la force, voire la violence, pour être effective. L’on peut aussi avoir une approche plus prédicative de l’autorité et la voir, non pas comme une chose en soi, mais plutôt comme une modalité de l’action. On parle alors d’une décision faisant autorité, d’une personne agissant avec autorité, d’une caractéristique propre à des relations entre parents et enfants, hommes et femmes, gouvernants et gouvernés. Comment cette question de l’autorité se pose-t-elle dans le contexte des mondes musulmans ?
