Le colloque « Le bilinguisme canadien comme projet : l'histoire d'une utopie et de sa réalisation », qui se tiendra à l'Université d'Ottawa du 3 au 5 mars 2016, invite à interroger le bilinguisme canadien dans ses dimensions culturelles, idéologiques et socio-historiques. De même, il vise à réfléchir à son actualité et son devenir, à l'heure où le bilinguisme comme projet constitutif de l'imaginaire national canadien contemporain semble de plus en plus remis en cause.

Agé d’une vingtaine d’années, le paradigme de l’intersectionnalité a été testé dans de nombreuses disciplines académiques, dans le domaine des sciences de l’éducation, de l’histoire, de la sociologie, de l’anthropologie, du droit, de la sexualité, et dans les domaines hybrides des Cultural Studies, de la Critical Race Theory et des Queer Studies.

Cette conférence intervient dans le cadre des célébrations des dix ans de la Convention de l’UNESCO sur la protection et la promotion de la diversité culturelle. En effet, le numérique, et tout particulièrement Internet, transforme fondamentalement l'économie de la création dans toutes ses dimensions, politiques, culturelles, sociétales et économiques. Dans le nouveau contexte de mise en réseaux des sociétés, des cultures et des industries créatives, le colloque permettra de repenser le numérique et les modalités de son articulation avec la gouvernance (villes intelligentes, coopération internationale et politiques publiques), l’économie (industries créatives, commerce électronique) et le développement (saut technologique, renforcement des capacités).

L’histoire de la Caraïbe a besoin de s’écrire au-delà de la réalité des petites parcelles, tant de fois séparées par un bras de mer. Comment inventorier les expressions du morcellement pour écrire notre histoire commune ? D’Haïti à Trinidad et Tobago en passant par Saint Kitts et Navis, la Dominique ou la Martinique, quelles sont les ressemblances ? La langue du grand compromis sera-t-elle l’anglais ou le créole ? CARIFESTA est l’occasion d’en discuter, pour commencer à créer des contenus, à donner des contours.

IAMCR 2015
The Gender and Communication Section invites submissions for its open session at next year’s IAMCR, held in Montreal, Canada, from 12-16 July 2015. The section seeks research that balances theory and practice, and explores the relationship between gender, media and communication. In recent years sessions have included papers on the Internet, television, film, journalism, magazines, violence, queer theory, media production, reception, advertising, representation, the Global Media Monitoring Project, human rights, discrimination, elections, the body, HIV/AIDS, development, pop culture, virtual identity, social change, and consumption. In keeping with our philosophy of inclusivity, we welcome contributions without regard to empirical, theoretical, disciplinary or philosophical perspectives. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 9 February 2015.

Ce colloque permettra de dresser un bilan de la Convention dix ans après son adoption et d'identifier les défis qui devront être pris en compte par les États Parties au cours des prochaines années, en particulier face aux enjeux actuels et aux référentiels pluriels qui remettent en cause les politiques culturelles en vigueur. L'événement impliquera des intervenants nationaux et internationaux, favorisera la rencontre d'universitaires établis et en émergence, de décideurs publics et d'acteurs de la société civile qui, depuis 15 ans, collaborent à la mise en œuvre de cet instrument juridique international.

Conference of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) 2015
The Comic Art Working Group, founded in 1984 by John A. Lent, is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary. As part of that occasion, the group hopes to have a full program of papers for the 2015 IAMCR conference in Montreal. Papers on any aspect of comic art are requested, such as political, advertising, or gag cartoons, newspaper strips, comic books, graphic novels, humor /cartoon periodicals, animation, and caricature.
