  Terra Foundation Fellowships at the Smithsonian American Art Museum

  The Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C., is pleased to announce a new structure for its Terra Foundation Fellowships in American Art. Starting in 2016-2017, three twelve-month fellowships will be awarded annually – one each at the predoctoral, postdoctoral, and senior levels – to non-U.S. candidates who are researching American art or to U.S. scholars with an exceptionally strong international component to their study.

  Shifting Terrain: Mapping a Transnational American Art History

  A Terra Symposium on American Art in a Global Context

  The increasing internationalization of the study of American art has altered the topography of the discipline in ways that are widely acknowledged but not yet clearly defined. This two-day event will map out the changes that are occurring in the field of American art as it becomes enmeshed in a global art history. Sessions will examine current trends of inquiry and suggest new directions for scholarship.

  Regards singuliers sur une pratique plurielle : Amos Gitaï

  Résolument pluridisciplinaire, le cycle Regards singuliers sur une pratique plurielle (28 janvier au 29 avril 2015) interroge la construction d’un imaginaire médiatique et culturel protéiforme à travers un corpus d’œuvres défini. Les réalisations du cinéaste, artiste contemporain, architecte et photographe, Amos Gitaï, nous paraissent incarner cette diversité. Depuis ses premiers courts-métrages, Gitaï se situe, en effet, toujours à l’articulation entre différentes cultures, à cheval sur différentes pratiques, dans un entre-deux artistique et politique. Dans le cadre de ce cycle, l’objectif est de faire résonner ses films, ses installations, ses photographies, avec différentes approches disciplinaires (archivistique, esthétique, histoire culturelle, muséologie, études cinématographiques, histoire de l’art), afin de faire ressortir la complexité et la diversité qui les caractérisent.

  Conference of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) 2015

  The Comic Art Working Group, founded in 1984 by John A. Lent, is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary. As part of that occasion, the group hopes to have a full program of papers for the 2015 IAMCR conference in Montreal. Papers on any aspect of comic art are requested, such as political, advertising, or gag cartoons, newspaper strips, comic books, graphic novels, humor /cartoon periodicals, animation, and caricature.

  The history of gender in games

  Annual symposium of the history of games: 2015 edition

  Depuis le début des années 1990, plusieurs chercheur(se)s sont préoccupé(e)s par la prolifération des stéréotypes de genre et des récits sexistes dans les jeux vidéo, de même que par le plus faible pourcentage de femmes joueuses et conceptrices de jeux. Au fil du temps, les solutions proposées pour éviter le sexisme et pour réduire les écarts entre les hommes et les femmes ont suivi trois grandes tendances. Cette deuxième édition du symposium annuel Histoire du jeu fournira non seulement l’occasion de passer en revue l’histoire du genre dans les jeux, mais aussi de documenter l’émergence d’une troisième vague de féminisme vidéoludique.
