Atelier de lecture du « Commentaire à la Sagesse » de Robert Holcot

Le commentaire Super libros Sapientiae de Robert Holcot, O.P. (ca. 1300-1349), connut en son temps un certain succès, attesté notamment par le grand nombre de manuscrits conservés et d’éditions à partir du XV^e siècle. Pourtant cette œuvre du théologien dominicain reste aujourd’hui largement méconnue, malgré l’importance désormais reconnue de son auteur. Le but de cet atelier est de proposer une lecture suivie de quelques passages de ce texte foisonnant, afin de le replacer dans le contexte de l’œuvre de Robert Holcot et de son époque. Le séminaire est ouvert à toute personne qui s’intéresse à la philosophie et à la théologie médiévale en général et à Robert Holcot en particulier.

Modes of Silence in the Seventeenth- and Eighteenth-Century Anglo-American World

The aim of this conference is to explore modes of silence, understood as the voluntary or involuntary renunciation of speech, in the seventeenth and eighteenth century Anglo-American world. Various approaches covering a wide range of disciplines are welcome: literature, art history, history of religion, politics and science, history of the book. The organisers will especially value papers that study the dynamics of silence and speech.
