En janvier 2016, la revue Urbanités a décidé de continuer la réflexion sur les mondes urbains chinois, entamée en 2013 avec sa série d’entretiens et d’articles sur la Chine urbaine. Des propositions d’articles, de compte-rendus de lecture ou de portfolios, quels que soient les thèmes ou terrains de recherche, sont attendus. Nous considérons que les mondes urbains situés hors de Chine continentale (Hong-Kong, Taiwan, Macao, Diaspora chinoise) mais marqués par des dynamiques politiques, culturelles, économiques et sociales liées à la présence d’acteurs ou de capitaux chinois font partie intégrante du monde chinois, et ont à ce titre leur place dans ce numéro spécial.

Cities we don't talk about

The cities of urban research have long been and still are widely today, the "great cities". But the realities of urban are not limited to them. In France for example the small and medium-sized cities house more than a quarter of the population. What does the observation of these cities bring to knowledge of the urban phenomenon? On the other hand, in the research devoted to major metropoles, it is often very specific neighborhoods that are the subject of attention of research as well as the media: social housing developments or the central gentrified neighborhoods. But more "ordinary" neighbourhoods are not often the focus. What does the observation of these neighbourhoods that we do not talk about "say" about the city? In other words, we would like to call on work that offers openings of the typologies of cities as the typologies of neighbourhoods that are subjacent to the discourse and debates on the urban.

The international conference "Rethinking Precarious Neighbourhoods" will be organised following two major thematics. On a second hand, it will explore the new tendencies of research on these spatial entites and their developments, focusing on land tenure security.

Les capitales : échelles, trajectoires, pratiques

Siège du pouvoir, la ville capitale est un objet sous-étudié en tant que tel en géographie. Plus qu’un simple chef-lieu administratif, la capitale impose dans sa forme, son paysage urbain et par ses fonctions de commandement des spécificités dans le concert des réseaux urbains. L’étude des capitales se trouve en effet au croisement de plusieurs champs de recherche comme la géographie politique, la géographie urbaine, la géographie historique ou la science régionale. Les contributions visées par cet appel à communications pourraient aborder les trois thèmes suivants : le rapport entre les capitales et l’évolution géo-historique de leurs territoires, la position des capitales dans l’armature des échelons de pouvoir et les pratiques politiques et sociales qui traversent spécifiquement ces villes, en lien avec leur statut de capitale.
