  Urban spaces, mobility and "citadinité" in the Mediterranean cities (14th to 18th century)

  The panel focuses on mobility and insertion in the cities of the Mediterranean area, during the early modern age. Since the Ancient times, Mediterranean cities are centers for commercial and cultural exchanges, and crossroads of migratory streams. These "sedimented" cities have a long tradition of multi-cultural society and reception of foreigners while remaining, to this day pivotal centers for international circulation and migration, and gateways to Europe.

  Talking about the city in Greek in Antiquity and in the Byzantine age

  Le colloque « Dire la ville en grec aux époques antique et byzantine », qui se tiendra à Créteil et à Paris les 10 et 11 juin 2016, invite à s’interroger sur les mots et les discours relatifs à la ville dans les territoires où l’on a parlé grec au cours de l’Antiquité et du Moyen Âge. Cette étude du vocabulaire et du langage vise à mieux comprendre les représentations mentales qui sous-tendent l’usage des mots et que, dans un mouvement inverse mais simultané, ces derniers construisent. Comment les mots de la ville se façonnent-ils ? Comment les mots façonnent-ils la ville ?
