  Over the past decade the scientific interest in relics and kindred artefacts has grown enormously. Without any doubt relics as well as relic shrines and associated objects have played a prominent role in European history since the introduction of Christianity. While in the past primary, secondary as well as tertiary relics were merely studied in relation to their religious and (art) historical background, recently the rise of a more scientific and archaeological approach is noticed. Nowadays researchers become more interested in the origin and nature of these sacred objects

  Writing in the time of war (Europe, 15th-17th centuries)

  Le présent projet entend aborder le rapport au « fait militaire » – entendu dans un sens large – à travers l’étude de documents naviguant entre l’écriture de soi et l’écriture de l’histoire. En effet, la période envisagée (XV^e-XVII^e siècle) autorise l’historien à s’interroger sur la guerre comme élément du quotidien, comme réalité à laquelle l’individu – peu importe sa position au niveau social – est confronté. Les anciens Pays-Bas burgondo-habsbourgeois sont, par exemple, un laboratoire fertile compte tenu des nombreux conflits qui s’y sont déroulés, des migrations que ceux-ci ont engendrées, des séparations qu’ils ont provoquées. Loin de se limiter à un spectre local, la guerre et le rapport que l’Homme entretient avec, doivent aussi pour l’époque retenue s’envisager dans une optique transnationale.
