  Italy Facing Terrorism: Political Parties, Institutions, Society, and Public Opinion (1969-1988)

  Italian Political Parties Facing Terrorism (1969-1988)

  Italian political parties’ attitudes, roles, points of view, and reactions vis-à-vis stragismo, subversive plots, right-wing and left-wing terrorism will be under scrutiny, together with their impact on society and institutions. The Organizing Committee encourages studies that also examine minor political parties.The Organizing Committee invites scholars of different disciplines interested in the topic topropose papers on Italian political parties’ attitudes, roles, points of view, and reactions in front of:- stragismo and subversive plots against Italian Republic; origin, development, and social consensus of left-wing armed struggle; the main political changes of the period (e.g., the crisis of center-left governments, the 1974 referendum, the 1975 and 1976 elections, the governments of national solidarity, the end of the Christian-democratic centrality); the dangers of right-wing terrorism; the emergency legislation; the exit strategies from terrorism.

  Into the woods

  Overlapping perspectives on the history of “ancient forests”

  In ecological, economic and social terms, “ancient forests” play numerous roles. Their definition varies not only from country to country but also according to disciplinary fields. Studying “ancient forests” can involve separating “old-growth forests” from “ancient woodland”, forests that have disappeared and, in the case of “current forests”, those that are not actually very old at all! This conference aims to exchange views and ideas on “ancient forests” including both retrospective and prospective issues. Better understanding their past highlights the key issues of their status, protection and promotion in our current societies and opens up new perspectives about the future of « ancient forests ». Foresters, planners, developers, ecologists, biologists, agriculturalists, geographers, historians, philosophers, ethnologists, cartographers, archaeologists, archaeobotanists, sociologists etc., from all backgrounds, are invited to join this debate about our various and varying concepts of “ancient forests”.

  Communicating Politics. Media, Communication, Activism from the French revolution to the present

  L'Ecole d'été « Communicating politics. Media, Communication, Activism from the French Revolution to the present » se tiendra à Padoue, en Italie, du 19 au 24 septembre 2016. Le programme sera consacré à l'étude, dans une perspective historique, des liens entre les médias et la politique, de la Révolution française à nos jours et dans différentes aires et régions géographiques. L'enjeu de l'école d'été est de s'interroger sur la manière dont l'étude de ces liens permet d'enrichir nos connaissances en histoire des médias et en histoire politique.

  Contemporary art as mediation of ecological crisis

  6th STS (Science and Technology Studies) Italia Conference

  In this session of the 6^th STS Italia Conference on Sociotechnical Environments, we will consider how contemporary art addresses new questions to environmental issues; how it questions our relation with nature and technique; and how artistic creation may indicate new kinds of answers to contemporary ecological issues. This call is open to various disciplinary fields: contribution proposals could aim to describe kinds of knowledge that contemporary art contribute to produce in the field of ecology, as to trace a history of the dialogue between environmental issues and artistic creations, and, more generally, on case studies questioning the notions of art, technique and environmental issues.

  Acteurs et formes de médiation pour le dialogue interculturel

  GLAT 2016 (Groupe de linguistique appliquée des télécommunications)

  Le GLAT 2016 nait de la volonté de faciliter le développement de réflexions et de recherches linguistiques sur les rapports qui lient la médiation et le dialogue interculturel. Le colloque s’inscrivant dans un cadre interdisciplinaire et pluridisciplinaire, les organisateurs souhaitent accueillir des propositions d’études sur les diverses situations et pratiques de médiation - « concept fédérateur, susceptible de regrouper les pratiques professionnelles et pédagogiques des différents métiers de la communication », pour reprendre les propos de John Humbley, et aussi comme un concept représentant un « processus de communication éthique », au sens de Michèle Guillaume-Hofnung - où les enjeux linguistiques (et en même temps culturels, interculturels et sociaux) demeurent au centre de la réflexion.
