Quand le pouvoir financier ne se passe pas tout simplement des frontières, il n’hésite pas à les redessiner selon ses besoins. Or, les dernières années nous ont appris que la raison d’être du volume de toutes ces transactions ne se rapporte pas principalement à la fonction que les économistes de toutes sensibilités prêtent d’abord au crédit, à savoir de permettre à des initiatives de se matérialiser.

  The Circle of Money

  Practices, Politics, and Policy in Premodern Societies (6th-17th Centuries)

  Money is at once elusive and concrete. As a mode of economic exchange it exists within a relatively fixed playing field, with clearly delineated boundaries of benefits and costs. However, poor handling, bad advice, or even a bad turn at a game of chance can swallow money up in one fell swoop. The workshop will investigate this wide array of pre-capitalist, western and non-western contexts from the English Isles, Flanders, France, Germany, Italy, and China between the Middle Ages and Early Modern times.

  Music-Records-Radio in French-Speaking Countries (1900-1950)

  In the space of a few decades, from 1900 to 1950, musicians’ and listeners’ relationship to music was transformed with the advent of records and then the radio. The conference seeks to provide researchers an opportunity to explore collectively the relationship between music, records, and the radio by examining the following issues: the interactions between different forms of media and intermedial transfer; the ways in which composers and performers adapted to the new means of dissemination; and the social, economic, and aesthetic consequences on musical activity with the arrival of records and the radio. Restricting the context to French-speaking countries will make it possible to establish comparisons as well as connections between various record “markets” and the radio networks that developed during the period.

  AISLF conference 2016 – GT 16 "The Sociologie du langage »

  La sociologie du langage comme sociologie du monde vécu, de la communication et de l’intersubjectivité (Habermas) ancre les phénomènes sociaux dans les pratiques langagières. De ce point de vue, elle ne peut qu’être interpellée par la manière dont l’hypermodernité a amplifié le répertoire des pratiques discursives médiatisées. On s’accorde largement pour penser ces pratiques à l’aune de processus globaux d’information et de communication et au regard des dispositifs sociotechniques qui les supportent. Modifiant la perception du temps et de l’espace, elles infléchissent les rationalités institutionnelles, groupales et individuelles, les formes de coordination, la construction des problèmes publics, les activités scientifiques elles- mêmes, etc., contribuant à restructurer les relations sociales, politiques, économiques, tout en doublant le monde social de traces plus ou moins pérennes.
